Studying and Exam Taking / Re: Crunch Time

dont listen to DOWNY. he's a good guy, but he likes to mess with people.

Dont worry about it, everyone I have talked to in my first year class hasn't really started outlining either. Yes, of course u review ur notes at the end of the week, although other than that, not much outlining going on. Halloween is the last hurrah. go out, get drunk. come monday....(cause lord knows sunday i will be out of commission with a mother of a hangover), then start to think about it. The first weekend of November is when most people start....at least at my school. I have a peer mentor at my school who is a 2L and he basically told me this is the deal for everyone. And even then, serious outlining doesn't begin until a week before thanksgiving. Come thanksgiving though, all bets are off. The Sh*t hits the fan, and binge drinking will have to be on hold till after the last final. After that, though, I plan on getting so drunk, I will wake up in a bus station with a ticket to Cali and "I'm Gay" written on my forehead.

For the most part, the *&^% aint hard. There is just so much to know that makes it hard. So many little nuiances within each concept to memorize. My brain is fried at the end of the day.

4d is newer than 3d. If a case was overruled, this would be put in 4d.

What exactly is legal writing on an exam?

You take 4 core courses which are torts, property, civil procedure, and contracts. These are the ones where participation means nothing. The only thing bad about not knowing ur stuff when called on in class, is u look like a dumbass.

Legal Writing will be ur 5th course. The grade on this will be comprised of mostly 1) legal memo, 2) oral argument, and my school has a legal research exam also. This class might have added ways to get ur grade up with HW, quizes, etc. Although for the most part, its a 1/3 for each of the three.

All of the 2Ls and 3Ls that I've talked to said that you should type/write your own outline b/c it will help you retain the information better.  If you choose to use another studnet's outline, retype it.  Around the end of November when you start studying for finals you will be familiar with the structure of the outline and old topics will still be somewhat fresh in your mind.

Another thing...whenever I get that "I don't care anymore" feeling (it's happend twice and we've been in school 6 weeks) I just take the night off.  I make myself a drink (Absolute Citron & Lemonade) and I go to sleep.  The next morning I'm refreshed and ready to go!

That is a very good idea.
