Current Law Students / EMERGENCY -- HELP
« on: October 23, 2004, 06:18:40 PM »
I'm researching in the library right now and I need to know what the difference is (if any) between West's NEW YORK DIGEST 3d and West's NEW YORK DIGEST 4th.  HELP!

I agree.  Law School demands time and dedication.  This is not medical or dental school...THAT'S hard.

I hate RAP!  I still get confused on how to determine whether or not someone is a validating life for another person that has a future interest.  I'm with the OP...if anyone has a chart or something that says, "If X, then Y," let me know.

We have now moved on to Marital Estates and Concurrent Estates and I'm concerned about the fact that I have yet to master RAP.

So true...so wise...

don't worry about the words and phrases.  Worry about the meaning.  If the deletions don't change the meaning, then you didn't need them.

Thanks JJ.  My memo is finally down to 6 pages...just wonder if I'll be able to sleep knowing that I removed words and phrases that I thought my memo couldn't live w/o.  Oh well...  I'm headed to the union to play DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION :)

Hid the book?  Not at NSL.

Have you brutally removed all unnecessary words.  Look for words that add no meaning.

Look for places where you make your point more than once.  Some of us have a tendency to make the point, but then repeat it differently to make it seem stronger.  When you have a space limit, you can't afford the luxury of the restatement.

Help!  I can't get my memo down to 6 pages!!!

Also, we were just introduced to Westlaw last week...they are going to show us Lexis this week.  During the first few weeks we were given library research exercises and they sucked b/c you had 30 people fighting for the same books.  On the last assignment someone actually HID a book!!!

(btw, I don't attend NSL)

I bought the FIRST YEAR REVIEW and UPPER LEVEL books off of ebay for $12.50 (for the set).  I've had them for about 4 weeks and after we finish a section I go back and review with the books.  I think they're great.  Enjoy!

Whit

PS: It's $175 for us to look in our rate!  NO FAIR!

All of the 2Ls and 3Ls that I've talked to said that you should type/write your own outline b/c it will help you retain the information better.  If you choose to use another studnet's outline, retype it.  Around the end of November when you start studying for finals you will be familiar with the structure of the outline and old topics will still be somewhat fresh in your mind.

Another thing...whenever I get that "I don't care anymore" feeling (it's happend twice and we've been in school 6 weeks) I just take the night off.  I make myself a drink (Absolute Citron & Lemonade) and I go to sleep.  The next morning I'm refreshed and ready to go!

A 2L let me borrow their LEEWS "primer".  I skimmed through it...looks like it provides some good techniques.  I will probably purchase the tapes.

I have started a private group through email listserv/website/chat.
if you'd like to join, IM me.

Can I join even though I don't attend NSL?
