Current Law Students / Re: How many people left after 1st semester?
« on: January 22, 2005, 02:42:48 PM »
So far my friends and I have noticed that one guy didn't return.  We aren't that social so it would be difficult for us to tell if anyone left.

Great advice!  I think I'll stick w/the "I'm really busy" thing...but most of all, I want to be honest and let him know that I don't think we are a match.

Current Law Students / HELP: I need to get rid of this guy...
« on: January 18, 2005, 03:12:01 PM »
So last semester I started dating a 2L (bad idea, I know) first things were great then he'd explode and bang on things or yell or just argue with me and since I'm not the type of woman to back down, I yelled and argued with him.  Then I got sick of it, and told him to leave me alone b/c I'd never been in a situation like that and I did not want to be involved with him.  Well he said he'd work on some things and won me back.  There were fewer outburts, but they were still present.  Needless to say, I was looking forward to the Winter Break.  The 4 weeks spent away from this guy were great and much needed.

Over break his grades were poor, an ex-girlfriend that was supposedly still a very good friend basically told him to get lost and get out of his life b/c he was such a know what he said?  He said that I was the only good thing in his life right now...DAMN.  So now that we are back at school he wants to spend time with me.  I've made it clear that I do not and would not want a relationship with him in the future but I'm getting the feeling that he thinks he can change my mind.  I've realized that I want nothing to do with this guy.  What should I do?  What should I say?  Remember...I have to see this guy for another year in the halls.

How did everyone do?  What grades did you get on all your exams?

Our grades will be posted in Jan but our Contracts prof has already graded our exams and he emailed our grades...I got a B...I almost cried...seriously.

LOL!!!  I started dating a 2L at the beginning of the semester and on Friday (the day of my last final) I said a few things and he said, " are on the road to becoming a lawyer!"  He said that he could see a difference in me...OH NO!!!!

I asked a friend and he said that no one from our class dropped out but what are the odds of 230 people completing the first semester???  Especially at our school...

Current Law Students / Re: TORTS EXAM = RIDICULOUS

Look to the original post...

One of the essay questions that we could choose to write on, "Discuss X and Y's debate on the Last Clear Chance Doctrine.  What implications would X have on blah blah blah." Well guess who X and Y are???  OUR CLASSMATES!  I talked to my friend today about that question b/c I told him that I had no clue who X and Y were and I asked when we covered those philosophers.  My friend laughed and said, "Those are our classmates!  They went back and forth in class about the LCCD one day."  WTF?!?!?!  I cannot believe that our prof would test us over what our classmates said!  What a friggin joke!  I'm sure the person that answered that question is guaranteed an A+!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Sands,

I agree with everyone else, the fact that you knew that you did not have time to address everything proves that you knew your stuff.  A few 2Ls told me that you should never walk out of an exam thinking that you covered everything.  I'm sure that you did great.

I'm dreading my Property Exam which is on Friday.  My professor has written a Casebook on Wills, Trusts and Future Interests so I am NOT looking forward to the FI fact pattern that he has created for the exam.

Current Law Students / TORTS EXAM = RIDICULOUS
« on: December 14, 2004, 05:07:26 PM »
In my entire life I have never felt defeated.  I’ve even lost at track meets and never felt defeated b/c I gave my all…but on my Torts Exam today, I left feeling as though I had been defeated and I gave my very best!!!

That was the craziest exam that I have ever encountered (and probably ever will encounter) in my life!  First of all, there were 50 multiple choice that were not too bad, but some would go into this insane fact pattern with all of these people doing all of these things and then the question would say, “what response is most likely true?  A) Shavell would say that X should not recover b/c… b) Grady would say that so and so… c) Posner would say that since the tort law crisis Y should blah blah blah”  Thankfully, I made a THEORY OUTLINE as well!

Another thing, we did not even have a fact pattern for an essay!!!  We were given a 4 line article from a news source and had to write about it and then we could choose to write on 1 of the other 2 essays.  One was on X and Y’s debate (forgot their names) on the Last Clear Chance Doctrine and the other was on the Comparative Negligence System.

I did my best…

Were your tests open or closed book?

Contracts: Casebook, outline, notes on laptop...anything except commerical outlines or the internet
Crim Law: Same as contracts
Torts: Casebook, your own outline
Property: Casebook, handouts from him

I cannot wait to get the last two over with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
