For our Appellate Briefs, we are required to have 1 inch margins on all sides. However, when opposing counsel gave me her brief, her bottom margin was clearly set at 1/2 inch or less! What does that mean? It means that she could get more than 20 pages of information into her brief!!! What does that mean? That means that her brief is more detailed and developed than anyone else in the class, which means that she might get a better grade!
Furthermore, I could tell that she manually typed the page numbers. This is not fair and pisses me off.
I know that the professor will read her brief, but will he notice that she did not comply with the rules???
What a female dog!!!

I wasn't in the program, but I two 1Ls at my school were. How did they like it? Did it help them prepare?
1 guy did so poorly last semester that he dropped out. The young lady did so poorly that she has to go to a mandatory CLEO session this week. I guess it helps the students that didn't do to well.
Hey, I'm trying to hear about experiences from CLEO summer institute alumni. How did it help prepare you for law school?

True story...a guy from my school graduated 3 years ago. He said that at the end of his first year he had a 2.5. He graduated and he only made 48K at his first job out of law school. He didn't tell us exactly how much he makes now, but he said that it is what a 7th year associate at a big firm would make. In Chicago, that's about 250-300K.
Bottomline, your future is in your hands. If I had based my success on my grades in the past, I never would have made it to law school.
Just make sure you dominate in other areas. Moot Court, one of the journals, SBA, etc.

Sorry to hear about your experience thus far. People can be very ignorrant and rude sometimes. It sounds like your school is not very diverse. What part of the country is it in?
You're right, this school is not very diverse, but I've been in many non-diverse settings and this one has to be the worst. I'm in the Midwest, in Illinois.

I like law school and the material that I am learning, I just dislike THIS law school.
People are rude.
People bump into me in the halls or restrooms on a daily basis and do NOT say, "Excuse me." This is REALLY starting to bother me.
People give me dirty looks/roll their eyes.
People sigh if I take a moment to collect my thoughts when I am called on in class.
No one in my section really talks to me...maybe they feel like they don't know how since I am the only female from a certain ethnic group in a section of 79. And since I spend the majority of my time with the same 79 folks, I have virtually no contact with the rest of my class.
I used to try to engage people in conversation, you know, trying to get to know my sectionmates, but the conversations were forced and I could tell that the people were not interested in talking to me so I now leave them alone.
The only people that I interract with are 2Ls and 3Ls and I only see them MAYBE once every week at a social gathering.
Nightlife in this town is pathetic...unless your down with the whole frat party/bar hopping scene.
The list goes on and on...I hate this place.

Would you take a I-Banking job your 1L summer if you could not find a big law job?
Checked out your blog...I too have a degree in Finance, no MBA though. Good luck!

Just realized that my reputation has considerably decreased...REYNOLDS, are you on here???
« on: February 08, 2005, 01:13:57 PM »
I really hate this place. Nearly everyone here is a stuck up snob. I've tried being postive, tried smiling...everyone is the same. Black, White, Latino, Asian...jerks...snobs...most of them are unattractive too! LOL!
And there is this guy, Mr. REYNOLDS (don't care if he sees this) that talks in EVERY CLASS! He did it last semester, and he's doing it again this semester. Could someone please tell him to shut up for a change and give someone else a chance to speak? Sometimes he doesn't even raise his hand, he just starts talking!
Someone please rescue me...SOS.
