General Board / Re: Stress, Law School, and Illness

I am very close to a nervous melt down.  All the little things that used to just roll off are now MAJOR ISSUES.  EVERYTHING IS AN ISSUE.

That sounds like the panasonic version of my sony.  but I go through 2 AAA in about 3 weeks.  It's maybe 5 inches by 2.  There is a guy in my class who sits in the front row and uses a very old full size cassete recorder.  One of those that weighs more than my laptop.  I guess you use what you can, but I feel for the guy.

I've been using a digital Sony ICD-p17 for 2 years now.  I really like it, but it is a little greedy with the batteries.  I always place it on the desk where the podium is at the beginning of class.  I tried recording from my desk (half way back) and the reception wasn't real clear.

I asked the office about this last year.  I was told it is against school policy.  You go to the class you are registered for or you don't go.  I did hear an exception was made for someone at exam time.  I am guessing the person had one really out of this world reason to need to take the exam at the other class's exam time.

It olny took me about 45 minutes.  I arrived at 6:45, got in line and walked out done at 7:30.  Not too bad.

Pointless Arguments / Re: Voting should be mandatory
« on: November 01, 2004, 02:23:42 PM »
People who don't care don't vote.  What I think we should do is teach more American History and Government in school.  Then make every graduating high school kid take the same test that people who are applying for citizenship have to take.  90% of the kids would fail the test.  Our own children don't have a clue about their country.  Then every person male or female has to serve 18 months active duty in some branch of the armed services.  Then maybe some of them would appreciate what we have in this country and take an active role in the development and furtherance of this country.

There a couple of people in my class who can be mildly annoying.  To find truly obnoxious people, I have to rely on the internet.

On this point I must agree with you completely.

BTW, what happened to Edythe's thread? I didn't get to read it.

I removed it.  I came to my senses and realized that I should not allow myself to be pulled into this morass of putrid stench.  I really don't think these people are serious law students.  They are probably high school kids who found a place to show their lack of intelligence and social graces.  Most people with even limited intelligence can post an argument withoug resulting to obsenities.  I don't know or care what their motives are.  However I do know that I should not have lowered myself by even responding to their senseless drivel.  I have more important things to do with my time.

Thank you Edythec for your recommendation!

Glad I could help.  I fell in love with the tapes when they got me through Contracts.  I have a set for each of my classes.  I find a different perspective always seems to work!  Congratulations on your great test results!

My guess it they figure the hard paced craziness will cull out those who don't really want it.  I've got two mid-terms in December, back to back, not even a day in between them!  You do get a couple of weeks in May between the last class and finals.  But the bad news is you have two finals a week for two weeks in a row.
