I believe McGill offers both common and civil law education -- and are expressly interested in students who want to study in a bijuridical environment.

Generally, I think people graduating from Canadian law schools are eligible to write the bar and practice in a few states (New York for sure, and Massachusetts I think, plus California -- but maybe only after being admitted in another jurisdiction or something). Not sure where else. So it depends where in the U.S. you want to practice. Look up the rules for the states you're interested in.

Lots and lots of acceptances out...I'm in at UBC.

Head to if you want more discussion on Canadian schools and admissions.

My understanding is that Canadian law schools (which I assume interest you, given the area you posted in) will look at your application with your GPA for completed semesters, but if you haven't been accepted by the following spring, you can send in a second transcript and they'll re-assess you on the basis of your total GPA. Many students, however, are accepted before their final semester is finished, and don't need to bother. So apply, and good luck!

If you have more Canadian-specific questions, head over to for answers.

Getting to this a few days late, but in case it helps...

I've already been accepted to UBC with 3.3/173. Obviously, my LSAT is very good, but they're clearly willing to accept lower GPAs in the right circumstances. If I'm in this early (more than a month ago, actually) then you stand a good chance of getting in later in the process. Just make sure your PS is good, and targeted to UBC.

While I'm operating on the assumption that the OP is a troll, I thought I'd chime in to correct some misinformation.

UBC does not favour GPA. They weigh GPA and LSAT equally. UVic favours GPA, weighting it 70 per cent.

And in case OP is not a troll: You should be fine to get in to UBC with your stats. Maybe not if you "halfass" your application, though. You will not get a full ride. A full ride to any law school in Canada is unlikely, as most money is given out to those who need it, not (necessarily) those with the highest stats.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Still Waiting?
« on: October 25, 2005, 07:39:24 AM »
This happened to me in June. My score was delayed by about nine days. I kept calling -- they told me it was fine and I should see it any time, but yet it wouldn't show up. Finally, on the fourth call to LSAC, I got a woman on the line who agreed whole-heartedly that it was ridiculous. She took my number down and called me back with my score about 20 minutes later. It finally hit my online account about 12 hours after that.

So if you don't get it soon, call again. And again. Keep bugging them and try not to get too down about it.

how long can this possibly go on for?  It's been over 2hrs.  Don't think anyone waited this long in June.
I waited nine DAYS after scores started coming out before I got mine in June. I hope you're not still waiting, and certainly hope that if you are, you don't have to go through what I did. But get a grip -- two hours is not an ordeal.

Got a Columbia fee waiver today. That beats the Cooley, etc ones I've been getting so far!
