Choosing the Right Law School / Re: FINAL CHOICE: BU OR LOYOLA?
« on: April 08, 2006, 01:02:47 PM »
well, I'm pretty much looking to stay in so cal after graduation, so mobility isn't a concern.  Neither school offered me money, but I don't think it would've swayed my decision, though I'd be really happy if Loyola decided to give me some  :)

I'm in a similar boat as you, except that I was debating between Loyola and Emory.  But in the end, I've put down my deposit at Loyola, mainly because I was quite impressed with their facilities and their trial ad classes/teams.

Thanks all, I've been a little busy with my last set of finals  :)

I think I'm looking more towards small to midsized firms.  Big law seems a little daunting to me.  I'm going to visit both schools in early april, but it seems like Loyola would be the better choice.

Choosing the Right Law School / Emory vs. Loyola LA

Here's my dilemma-

I'm a socal kid through and through. HS at a college prep in socal, college at UCLA.  LA is definitely my comfort zone, so eventually I'd like to come back and practice around here.

I'm looking into either environmental law or IP, specifically biotech IP.  So I'm not sure which school to attend.  If I went to Loyola and ended up doing really well my first semester, I might consider transfering to UCLA or USC.

Also, I still have 7 apps outstanding.  UCLA, USC, hastings, Texas, BU, Georgetown and Cornell.  I'm not a solid shot at any of these, maybe except for Hastings (3.4 gpa in biology w/research experience, 159,166 LSAT split).

So, take a break from studying and post your thoughts.  TIA

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Housing around UCLA
« on: March 16, 2006, 09:49:40 PM »
weyburn terrace is garbage, the construction company cut corners everywhere.  People have woken up to ceiling plaster falling on their faces.  The doors don't fit right so vermin get in.  There were also some electrical issues.  I'm not sure if they've fixed anything but if not, it's miserable.

Here are some of the going rates for housing here:

Studio- 800-1100 month (all of these are on 1 year lease)
1 Bd/Ba- 1000-1400 month
2 Bd/Ba- 1750-2400 month

Choosing the Right Law School / withdrawing from schools

here's a silly question,

how do you withdraw from a school?  USD and UFl didn't send me anything other than the deposit forms.  Should I just call the admissions office?

TIA
