Especially more local ones. Davis Wright Tremaine, Tonkon Torp, Lane Powell. Thoughts?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Go to a T14 IN THIS ECONOMY!
« on: October 16, 2008, 02:19:39 PM »
Did mock interviews before. The counselors said I did very well - indeed, good enough to overcome by grades (I am .1 below median). I had really good rapport with a couple of the interviewers. Still nothing. Below median hurts. Also, my GPA was .1 above median until I screwed the pooch in one class, so that probably looks bad. My story isn't unusual in this economy either. And yes, there is a difference between T18-15 and T14. It is not hype.

Seriously. I foolishly choose a T18-15 with money over lower T14s. Ended up at median 1L year. So far jobless. This especially applies to people who are much better at standardized tests than studying. Better to have a big debt and a big salary than small debt and no salary

2L job search / Resume Update
« on: October 07, 2008, 10:57:40 AM »
I have heard back from all my OCI interviews, with the exception of the first. THe first also happens to be the frim I want most. I recently made the mock trial team at my school. Absurd to send someone at that firm an updated resume? Would I send it to someone I interviewed with?

2L job search / Emergency Measures

T20  2L (not T14) slightly below median grades. Only two callbacks, one rejection, one haven't heard back yet. I think it is safe to assume the worst. Did a not so mass-mail, which has ensured a few rejection letters in my mailbox daily. Now what? I figure this summer is shot, probably go back to unpaid DA position. How do I set myself up well for next year (other than grades..)?

Where should I go next fall? / UTexas placement outside of TX
« on: October 10, 2007, 08:33:22 PM »
So I am a 1L at UT. Really enjoying it so far. Austin is a great city (for a student, at least). However, I dont really think I would like to practice in TX. Sure, I might, but feel I might want to be closer to home (and somewhere that isnt 90 in october...). I hear UT does pretty well in the east, northeast, but how well? Perhaps more to the point - how well must I do? NYC, DC, and Boston would all be great (I'm guessing Boston would be, by far, the hardest to get into) I dont need V50 or anything. Lifestyle and exit options are far more important to me than cash - one of the nice things about UT's tuition... So any success stories? I dont expect any "below median and at Cravath!" but something...hopeful?

Yep, I'll see you all there. They gave me an in-state tuition waiver! I've never even been to Texas.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: USC Preview Day
« on: April 23, 2007, 02:37:15 PM »
Thanks to all for the extremely helpful information. I am in the same situation as redacted - UT vs. USC. As of right now USC would be about 8k less. Am still waiting for UT to get back to me about a possible merit aid reevaluation in light of USC"s offer. If they end up costing around the same... i dont know how Ill decide. Flip a coin?
