I just sent in my deposit  ;D

Choosing the Right Law School / University of Maryland
« on: April 16, 2004, 07:15:41 AM »
Has anyone who applied to UMaryland since Jan 15, received a decision?
I've called the school twice within the past week.  First time, they tell me that I will receive a decision by the 15th.  The second time (today), they tell me the board has just finished reviewing my application and that I will hear within 2-3 weeks.  My dilemma is that if I do not get into UMaryland I will accept a scholarship at Hofstra.  However, the deadline for receipt of the deposit is before the period during which I would receive my decision from UMaryland. I would just leave a deposit however, it's a large sum of money, higher than other schools I've looked into. I informed the Admissions office at UMaryland of my problem, even volunteered to drive there and get rejected in person. The woman was curt with me but took down my number after some persuasion.  They probably think I'm nuts but after a stressful period of applying to schools and a few waitlists later, I am ready to make some final decisions.

Anyway, can anyone give me some advice?  Any thoughts on UMaryland in general?

Choosing the Right Law School / Hofstra v. Rutgers?

I'm currently choosing between the two schools and was wondering what the general consensus was regarding which has a better reputation or which school people people would attend given the choice of the two.  Thank you :)

Incoming 1Ls / Case Western...

I recently received a response from Case Western, a school for which my application fee was waived. They put me on a "special" hold list.  They said it was similar to a waitlist but has a higher status/priority.
I have also received an acceptance letter and scholarship money (a significant amount) from Hofstra and need to let them know mid Apr. about accepting their offer.

I was wondering how people felt Case compared to Hoftsra.  It is much higher on the new rankings.

Also, given the following list of schools in addition to the forementioned, which do you think are worth the investment?

Amer U.
William and Mary
Seton Hall

Thank you :)

Incoming 1Ls / Admissions Calls

Recently, I called a few law schools to inquire about the status of my application.  A few schools have told me that the decision has been made. I was wondering if anyone has similarly contacted law schools and received a decision over the phone..

Does anyone know what the general consensus is regarding which school (Pace or Hofstra) is a better law school?

I recently got a scholarship to Hofstra and while it is not my first choice, the money is enticing. Does anyone know any current students?  Are the graduates generally ahppy with their decision to attend?

Incoming 1Ls / Santa Clara

At the last minute, I am considering applying to Santa Clara.  Having lived on the East Coast my whole life however, I am uncertain as to how the school ranks in the state itself.

Does anyone know someone who has attended? Or is familiar with the school's reputation?
