Just have to make a small distinction here.  I lived in Jackson for a year and hated it.  However, I grew up in MS and have been just about everywhere...and it is a WONDERFUL state.  If you've only been to Jackson, you have no clue what the state is really made of.

Ok, let's review.  Jackson=BAD.  Mississippi=GOOD.   :P

OUCH.  I thought I was at least going to get waitlisted.  :'(

The worst part is...I found out that the recommendation letter that probably would've really helped me out wasn't in my file when it was reviewed.  It was sent directly to the law school admissions office and they never received it.  By the time I followed up and had it resent, it was too late to get it in my file.  I guess it's my own fault for not following up in enough time to get it in.   >:(

Just FYI - I don't think writing a letter of interest will help.  I called the admissions office to ask because I don't have a decision from UGA at all yet.  I just asked if that sort of thing is common, and the lady on the phone said that it wouldn't make any difference whatsoever.  Maybe it would if you're already on the waiting list...I don't know.

Your kind words of wisdom are as lovely as a Magnolia and as sweet as my tea!
Congratulations on your acceptance and I look forward to meeting you in the fall! (assuming you choose Mississippi mud over red clay ;) )

Sounds great, dahlin.  Definitely look me up.

And as for justifying a move to the irritates me that a lot of Northerners believe themselves to be experts on the South based solely on what they see on television and in the movies...which is mostly stereotypical bull.  It's positively nauseating.  Anyway, I think you made a wonderful decision so just tell those yankees to go to hell.    :D

Hotty toddy!!!

First of all, let me say that the posts so far in this thread have been fantastic.  What's the bumper sticker I see all the time..."I wasn't born in the South, but I got here as fast as I could."  ;)  However, I do think that one who sees the many virtues of the most beautiful place on earth and properly appreciates it might one day be able to call themselves a Southerner...eventually.  LOL

I will be at Ole Miss in the fall...if I don't get accepted by Georgia which seems less likely with each passing day.  I spent a semester at Ole Miss as an undergrad.  Not only is the campus beautiful, but so is the town of Oxford.  I loved it there, and I'm sure you will too.  It's full of Southern charm and it's got a pretty cool counterculture for such a small town.  It's literary, artsy and musical.  It's equally traditional and progressive.  It's unique and I love it.

Welcome and congrats!!   ;D

They called me, but I think it was a special case.  They sent me an invitation to their open house (which is today) and they were afraid that the invite would make it to my mailbox before the admissions packet did.

Anyway, the admisisons packet was thick and in a large envelope.  It contained the letter and various catalogues and brochures.

Mine has been in committee review for WEEKS now!!  Can't decide if that's good or bad.  I suppose the fact that I haven't been officially rejected is good...but really wish I would've heard something else by now.   :-\

And the worst thing is...I don't have internet access at work except during my lunch hour.  So I can only check the online status once a day until I get home from work!!  Dammit!!   >:(

Good luck everyone...

*BUMP*  I am still anxiously awaiting to hear from Georgia.  Has anybody else heard anything?

I posted this question on another thread, but so far no answers.  Can someone tell me Georgia's seat deposit deadline, if any?  Just wondering when some spots might be opening up.  Thanks!!    :)

*BUMP*  This is a good thread.

Does anyone know the seat deposit date for Georgia?   ???

Sorry folks...getting a little antsy here...
