Don't forget that you can purchase books on your student account. I bought my used Criminal law book and the books for Legal writing.  The lady in the bookstore said some people even buy 10cent candy on their student account. That's a little excessive, but it's easier than forking over the little money you may currently have in your banking account. I have a balance, so I'll just get less when my loan check arrives (whenever that is).

oh my goodness. I will be there this week. I am supposed to be packing now. I can't wait to meet all y'all. oh, and blaqueangel, i'm going to need your help with target directions. :)

No problem, Faith. Just give me a call or email me when you get into town.

I have done a little exploration. There's more in C-ville than I thought. I went to the Fashion Square mall to look for something and they have some great stores. There's a J-crew, Abercrombie, Express, Starbucks, American Eagle, Eddie Bauer, Sam Goody and Gap (just to name a few). I hear the downtown mall is even better. There are great random shops. Next to the Best Buy is this store called World Market. They have furniture but in the back they have great gourmet and speciatly seasonings. Obviously, we won't have that much time or money to shop but at least there are diverse options.

oooh how is the new Target?  I got so excited driving to C'ville and seeing there was a new shopping center with one in it.  I have a Target problem, in fact I'm going there now to buy a fan for my new room.

I love Target and that Target is no exception. The K-mart is a little ghetto but gets the job done and the Walmart seems slightly overpriced. The Walmart was sooooo crowded with students and their parents. The Target wasn't as crowded and had great deals.

Hey, I arrived in C-ville today. Let me know when you are checking out the bookstore. I plan to visit Target and Walmart tomorrow for a t.v. stand, shower curtain, and other stuff like that. That is if you'd like!

Bump.

I'm in C'ville now :) I'll try to check out the law school for any book/section info in the next couple of days.

what if your bill has a negative number? does that mean you owe that amount? or you don't owe anything, and thats the amount of your refund? thanks y'all. this thread has been really helpful!

If you have negative then that amount is the amount that would be refunded to you. If my Stafford loans had been reflected in my tuition bill then I would have had a negative balance due. I am still not sure why my Stafford loans aren't reflected since I applied in late May/early June. I'll have to check on that tomorrow. Were your Stafford loan amounts reflected on your tuition bill? That might be why you have a negative amount.

Is anyone else here thinking of joining a music group on campus? If so, which one?  I know that it must be primarily a thing for undergrads, but I have always been in some kind of jazz band, wind ensemble, or choir and can't really imagine life without it. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting really excited.  We start class in a month!!!

I think you should do whatever helps you relax and makes you happy. I'm thinking about joining the lacrosse club team my second year. The club team plays other club teams and college varsity teams. I LOVE lacrosse and I am so much happier when I'm physically active and am able to express my competitive side. I find that I am much more focused when I have to balance multiple responsibilities. I don't know how feasible it is to take part in such an activity, but if I don't work on a journal or something like that I think it would be a great idea.

I'm excited as well. People seem to truly love UVA and that's something special. We're a lucky group of people.

Thank you for the updates. I have to look at the letter they sent us in early June. I think it stated that tuition is due August 12 but that we wouldn't have to worry about the bill amount if they knew that we took out another loan and it was coming their way.

So, did everyone get a tuition bill? I think mine was sent to my permanent address. Does the bill amount reflect that you plan to take out federal and/or private loans? Or does it just show a bill for anything that's not covered by a scholarship?

I'm getting really excited for school. My last day of work is on Friday. Everyone is really happy for me here. It's going to be sad to leave all the nice people at my job, but I won't miss living in the city where I currently reside or the actual job.

I ordered a 725 Processor (1.6 GhZ) [Is 725 gonna be slow?]
60Gb
No productivity suite (will by at school)
512 MB 2 dimms
3 yr plus solution (which is about $349).
4 cell battery and 8 cell battery as back-up. I guess it's pretty equal considering that I wanted the 3 yr warranty including the Complete Care. When I attempt to configure it with your specifications, the 3 yr warranty would add a lot of dough.

I'm jealous, but I'm okay with $1200.

I wish I knew about trying it from entry level. Since you can't use the coupon from the discount page ($250 off), I was only given the option of 40 or 60GB. I hope that isn't too terrible. I got the 3 yrs plus solution package because I am risk averse. My total came up to $1260 something (w/shipping and taxes).

you should be pretty close to what i posted for $1200 (depending on the price of the 3yr thing).... did you get an extra battery too- cuz u need one.  you could always send it back or cancel the order (if they havent shipped it yet) and re order...
