I've got L.  So, is this all we need to go get our coursebooks or should we wait until orientation?  (No, I'm not a gunner, I just don't want to carry all the books around that first day!)

Studying for the LSAT / Re: A million questions.

You asked whether your age would effect the admissions process because it would tend to create doubts about your maturity.  I wonder whether your age will not create questions about your reasons for going to law school?  You will have to have a VERY good reason for going to law school at your age.  Maybe I'm sensitive to this because I had to deal with the same question from the opposite end, I'm older than the normal applicant.  Of course, I had many years of work experience that led me to this point in my life.  What will you be able to express to admissions officers about your reasons for attending?  I'm not saying you can't have a reason because of your age, but think long and hard about how you will express those reasons.

Also, about the LSAT.  Games are the easiest section in which to improve, but RC is the hardest.  The person who recommended improving in LR in order to improve in RC is dead on.  Same type of questions, etc.

Has everyone (or anyone) received an orientation packet?  I haven't received anything for a while (I just moved) and I heard that we should have received packets.

Also, has anyone heard from financial aid recently?  I've submitted my apps for aid but I have heard nothing back.

Thanks.

I received a "tentative" orientation packet that had soft dates and some other tidbits.  On the aid side of things, check your status on the Admit Web.  It is easy to find out what you have as far as Stafford, Perkins….  I just sent in my BOA Stafford App. Today.  I hope they accidentally don't find out I committed fraud in 3 states.  ;)

I've submitted my Stafford and GradPLUS apps.  Since then, though, I haven't heard anything.  Kind of makes me nervous.

Thanks for the info on the packet.

I've been here for about one week and I really like the area.  All the reasons that I came here, concerning the community anyway, are proving true.  It's been a little humid the past couple days, but nothing too bad.

Care to elaborate on those reasons?

I tried writing up a post to answer your question a few different ways, but each came out sounding like an advertisement for Charlottesville.  Basically, the hype about how "nice" a place it is is true.

Was there something you were interested in or just curious about my reasoning?

Born and raised in SoCal, never lived outside of Los Angeles County-I am moving to NorCal though...

it is completely different up there.  lived in socal all my life except for Jr. College when i moved up to roseville with my family. I HATE IT and so do they.  it is completely different.  get ready for jerks, jerks, and more jerks.

Really?  I'm from Sacramento and think the people here are nicer than other cities I've spent any time in.  That being said, I can understand why you hate Roseville. :)

I was wondering if anyone knew about meal plans?  Do most students eat at the cafeteria on the law school grounds or go off grounds?

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm living about 15-20 minutes west of campus.  When I visited in April, everyone said to avoid 29 because of the traffic.  So, I promptly hit 29 during "rush hour."  I live in CA now and it reminded me of traffic on a Sunday afternoon. :)

If you find a nice place to live, don't let traffic be a worry.
