The commute is bad. I would not recommend living in West Chester if you can avoid it.

That's great to hear.

Great comments. Very good to soothe my curious and slightly anxious brain. And I guess it doesn't help that I finished reading "One L" today.

I'm very excited to get started.

I'm definitely interested. There had been some talk about this a couple of weeks ago.  The week just before the start of orientation would be a great time for that. I'm sporadically on this board, so if people want to do this, just post a time and place and I'll try to keep up to date.

Any ideas as to where to do it? Center City would be great for me. I think someone had mentioned Manyunk, which would also be a great place to do it.

Anyone have advice about apartments in the area.  I'm getting a 1BR but I can't decide where...I'm between Radcliff House, Radwyn, and Rosemont Plaza right now but can't decide! Help!

All things being equal (price, amenities, etc), I say go with the one that is walking distance to a grocery store and some bars/restaunts. Or go with one that has convenient parking.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the specifics of those places, though.

I just got final confirmation of my loans. I'm on the hook for a lot of money now.

They sure are asking for ALOT of info!~ Ugh...

Yeah, it's a pain. But once they finally get what they need, you can process your loans right away. I did my Stafford already and my private loan is in the works.

I think in a perfect world, the best living environment would be a bank of one bedroom apartments in the midst of lots of hard-working, yet down-to-earth grad students. You could have your space, have some like-minded people around to hang out with when you had down time.

In my opinion, the extra cost to live alone (or in whatever situation makes you the most focused, and therefore able to do well your first year) is worth whatever it costs.  It will probably only be another few thousand dollars in costs, and it could mean a huge difference in how successful your first year is.

How long does it take for them to decide someone's financial aid package?  I just received my acceptance, and I'm pretty sure I have all the materials in... so now I'm just waiting~ more waiting...  :-\

It's been taking tham a while for me. But that's because they keep asking for additional information.

Do you know which lender you will be using?  What are the perks for using their preferred lender (Sallie Mae)?

They said the prefered lender, by Villanova's calculations, offers the best rates. I just went with that.
