A nice set of luggage, a small pet and a book of movie passes.

Lawman,

I was notified just yesterday (Thursday, March 24th) via E-mail with the promise of an official packet to follow.  Hope you soon get an answer as well.

If I was going to eat a cat, I'd prefer it on sourdough.  It would bring out the mustard.

Just a random post to ask if anyone had seen this before.  I have a cat that can't stop eating Hawaiian bread.  He's into flan as well (something a little easier for me to understand).  Anybody have a cat into the same?  Anybody have an animal with equally unusual eating habits?

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Housing in Berkeley
« on: February 25, 2005, 12:52:42 PM »

I applied for family housing at Berkeley.  The apartment in both sections (A & B) seem to be rather small and the new development seems spacious but pricey (above some of what can be found on market).  Anybody have any experience will family housing at the school?

Yellow,

Thanks for the advice and the good wishes.  I'm old enough to know that knowledge from twenty years ago is sometimes the best.

Miguel,

I don't know if I've been swayed.  I think I was pretty much convinced already to go to Boalt.  All of you helped reaffirm me in my views.  Maybe we'll see each other if you make it out to Visit Day.

My thinking runs mostly in line with yours, Jeff.  My interest (as it stands) is in law in the public interest and Berkeley does have a strong commitment and dedicated resources.  You're right that Berkeley's reputation will provide for a number of opportunities that going to BYU will not.  And, judging from my time spent on sites like thevault.com, Boalt is a great environment in which to study law.   Besides, I'm a native Californian, like the Bay Area, and see my staying in the state as a likely outcome.

That said, I did want to provoke some reactions.  One school gets painted as a dingy hippy paradise and the other as a stronghold for Mormon orthodoxy.  Those images don't seem to me to be accurate or justifications in and of themselves.

I'll take it under advisement.  I'm just afraid that smoking crack during my skew the survey results.

So, Miguel, barring an acceptance at Harvard, have you made up your mind to go to Berkeley?  Are you going to the admitted students' day ("VIsit Day")?
