« on: January 07, 2006, 03:00:07 PM »

I'm canadian and got into NYU as well, not sure how I will pay for it either though. Are you planning on going there? Where did you do your undergrad?

It converts to a 3.66. An 80 is not an A its an A-. Over 85 is an A.

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Insomnia Thread

Ambien is only a short term sleep aid. Doctors shouldn't prescribe it for more then 2 weeks.

Ask your doctor about going to a sleep clinic if you really can't sleep, and they might be able to tell you if there is something keeping you awake and what can be done about. For long term insomnia they will probably give you something like aminytriptiline which can be taken long term. That's what they gave me after I went and I took for 3 months and got my sleeping pattern back to normal and now I sleep fine.

It wasn't a precursor to anything, a lot of the course was abstract algebra but for some reason my school makes math majors take that in their first term, then we don't really anything else like it at all.

weird.

What school type?

Assuming that you are a math major, we are basically identical applicants.

It's a Canadian school. Everyone in the math faculty takes a general first where you take  algebra, and calculus, but yo uahve to take computer science as well, and you get a few electives.

Where are you planning on applying? I haven't decided if I am gonna stay in Canada or go to the States yet so I will probably apply to schools in both so I can keep my options open.

Classical Algebra is just logic proofs and stuff like that. We also learned RSA Encryption when I took but I don't why.

That's a really odd grouping of topics to throw under "classical algebra".  Was it some sort of precursor to abstract algebra?

This guy is definatly "Dude" from lawstudents.ca and his conservative ideals are complete crap. No real conservative complains about not being able to get a free ride because of need. What a load of *&^%.

Law School Applications / Optional Essays
« on: July 08, 2005, 03:31:59 PM »
Hey,

I was just wondering about optional essays, how do you know what schools ask for optional essays, I mean where do you find it on the application? Do schools have a specific topic, or do they just say "if there is anything else you'd like us to know?" at the end of the app? And if they just say "is there anything else you'd like us to know...." what are you supposed to say? Talk about how you'd make the law school diverse? Couldn't you just address most things in your PS?
