don't jinx it.
i was deferred so i sent them a letter about interest, they are number 1 etc. i also included a writing sample from work. i also was lucky enough to have some folks, including my boss, call the admissions folks.
from there i got put on the WL. i sent another letter expressing interest and that i would go no matter what. talked about why h specifically. also tucked in another writing sample from work (same exact sort of thing as the first one). two writing samples are kind of weak, but it wasn't like i had new grades or anything.
then waited patiently.
So, my boss told me that he was on hold for grad school (not LS). He called the school up and said that he really wante to go there and would do anything to get in. He offered to defer for a year if that would help. They told him they would let him in if he deferred. Is that something worth trying or will it do you more harm than good?

sorry i didn't make that more clear. i ripped that quote off from someone else.
I just saw this on LSN today from someone who withdrew from HLS. Does this mean what I think it means? Is it bad?
"Call from Harvard Office of Admissions 3/24. Told they were finishing filling their class and wanted to know whether I'd already made up my mind to go elsewhere before offering me a spot (they knew about Yale acceptance from a letter I sent in Jan). I didn't want to have to make a spot decision, but the director was a bit pushy, so I said that I was pretty set on Yale. Not sure whether that will equal withdrawal, or a rejection letter in the mail soon."
