I also received the August reserve letter.  I'll be staying on the list but also preparing to head to GULC.

they called one of the people that wrote a recommendation for me yesterday.....eeek.
He wasn't home and has to call them back today.  I hope he can sell them on me.
Did this happen to anyone else???

That can only mean good news...early congrats!

Law School Admissions / Re: Information Regarding 529 Savings Plan

529 savings plans are excellent, particularly if you can get a deduction off of your state taxes for your contributions.  Also, earnings are generally free of state and federal taxes when used for qualified educational expenses.

Check out for plan details and comparisons.

I finally received the second reserve letter (dated 6/21).  I'll be staying on the list.  Argh.

Has anyone *not* received the second reserve letter or has anyone been released from reserve?

So when are going to withdraw from Columbia???

I just called the Admissions Office.  The woman I spoke with said that the review process of reserve candidates has begun, but no decisions have been sent yet.  Also, we should "hear something by the end of the month".  Fingers crossed....

i do have a question about stafford loan. i know that everyone is entitled to borrow 18.5k, but the amount that is subsidized and the amount that is unsubsidized vary among people, right? for example, my 8.5k is subsidized whereas the remaining 10k is unsubsidized, and i'm wondering if other people got better deals (i.e. all 18.5k subsidized) or are all the packages the same.

The maxiumum subsidized Stafford Loan that anyone can get is $8,500.  So don't got the best deal.
