Well, it's not too late to send an addendum - go for it!  Also, it might not hurt if you tell them you'll become governor of Texas and then annex Louisiana (or maybe Mexico).

I'm mighty surprised!  I've been out of town for a few days so I just got the letter today, but it was dated March 17.  I'm almost 100% sure I'll be going there next year.

My numbers, for those who are interested:  3.2/167 Texas resident.  Who knows how I got in, maybe it was my (empty) promise to build them a new library/football stadium/on-campus night club.  I sure hope they don't make me to follow through on that...

That's a pretty good dilemma to have... I'd go with UVA

You guys have all had a bunch of people contact you?  All I got was the acceptance letter and one email from a student there.  UH has definitely sent the least info/made the least contact of all the schools I've been accepted to.  Hmmm.... maybe they know that I'm attached to Houston and will probably end up there regardless...

And the best one of all:  NYU vs. NY Law School.  So close, yet oh so far away...

I called the UH financial office a couple weeks ago.  The lady I talked with said they'd make decisions on merit based scholarships in mid March and need based ones in early April.  So, nothing yet, but hopefully soon!

The judge in my hometown (which is in Texas) didn't go to law school.  Granted, this town ain't New York, but I guess it shows it can be done.  He's been there as long as I can remember and most everyone thinks pretty highly of him.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: SMU vs. Tulane for Houston
« on: February 24, 2005, 03:57:07 PM »
It seems like Tulane might be a little better for Houston than SMU.  I think a whole lot of Houston firms recruit there, but the number of Tulane grads in Houston might be a bit lower b/c most of them want to go to other cities.  If you were dead-set on Houston, I'd say Tulane, but since you're thinking about either Houston or Dallas, stick with SMU.  I don't think Tulane places all that well in Dallas, whereas SMU is top-notch in Dallas and pretty good in Houston, too.

Also, I think Houston is a way better city than Dallas.  I think most people feel that they're pretty similar, but I've always disliked Dallas.  Houston's got a lot cooler lately, I think it's a more diverse city with better nightlife, museums, etc.  Really, though, maybe I just couldn't stand living in the same town where the Cowboys play...
