Where should I go next fall? / GULC Part-Time vs UC Hastings
« on: July 08, 2003, 09:18:17 AM »
Hey everyone I just got into Georgetown Evening Session from the wait-list.  I was planning to attend UC Hastings.  My interests are in Land Use, Zoning, etc.  These are state specific, so in state is good.  However CA market for lawyers is in the gutter so I'd take any edge in hiring.

I'm from Cornell and used to the stodgy big name, and my friends don't know what Hastings is--which is annoying.       G-town is over 60K more debt, and possibly another year in school. Is it worth it?  I'm from Oakland and plan on staying in the bay area later.

It depends.  Hastings is in San Francisco, much better for networking if you are trying to work for top 10 SF, Palo Alto etc firms.  More alums in private firms also.  Davis is good for public law, clerking in Sacramento etc.

Oh yeah, Hastings median private sector salary is bananas--as high as top 20's like Boalt. I also chose Hastings over Davis, before I got into G-town.  Check my post on 1rst page and weigh in--Hastings vs Georgetown PT, I must decide by Friday.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Best schools for Indian Law?

Native Americans call themselves American Indians.  THe former is a term apologists use to placate their guilt for profiting from America's subjugation of Indian nations throughout the US.
