I called a school today to see if my application was complete (I applied back in November but never heard anything). And the lady on the phone gave me alot more info than I had expected. She looked at my LSAT and GPA and told me where I was compared to all the other applicants. She said that applications had gone up for this year and that this cycle is more competitive than in the past 3 years.
She looked and saw that I had been complete for a long time and said that she was going to move my application to the top to send it on to the committee. She basically told me that I would probably be waitlisted (surprised I wouldnt be flat out auto-rejected with my numbers) and if I didnt hear anything in the next 3 weeks, to call back and I'll get a decision then.
Yeah, soooo wasnt expecting that much.
So I guess calling doesnt hurt.
How does one even get in touch with an adcomm? Anytime I called a school, I just called the admissions office to check on the status of my application. I'm pretty sure the person that answers just works there and is not one of the people who will be evaluating applications.
