Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Re: Is Cooley Law School That Bad?

I'm sure it is what you make of it.  BUTTTTTT>.............

It is a handicap for sure!  Harder all along the way to get a job or anything and you always have to worry about getting kicked out at cooley.

3 years + debt is a lot!

If i could do it over again I would do something more profitable.

I agree with WSUalum1.

Biglaw is a term that fake stuff like this board uses.  I have never heard anyone at WSU use it. - Ever.

There are plenty of unpaid internships available for small firms and the government (like the local prosecutor's offices).

No-one should think they are a shoe-in to be top of their class before they even start law school.  Yes, there are jobs like fed cts and things that go to the top of the class.  In my class there  are a couple people going to the big name firms in this area.   They have too much class to be very vocal about it, however, because ANY job offer is prestigious in the 2011 Wanye Law class.

Most of us, however, will be lucky to make 40k next year at small firms in the metro detroit region.

I graduate from WSU in 2 weeks.  Dont go here.

In fact, dont go to law school at all.  There are too many lawyers and cooley is putting out more by the boatload.

I'd say 20% of my class has jobs lined up.

If I go to wayne sure as hell wouldnt live downtown, I'd live in Royal Oak.  I went to MSU for undergrad and its nice up there but I'm concerned about jobs, cost and transfer opprotunties

I got into both.  Which should I go to?  MSU is good for intellectual property law.  Wayne is 9k cheaper and has a better rep right?

MSU is a nice area to live in, Wayne is in the hood. ( I was undergrad business at MSU '05 )

Thoughts?

I'm in a similar, though opposite and less serious situation.  I'm from Michigan, got into the in-state schools (not U of M lol) but my serious gf just got a job and moved to DC.  So I'd be very happy to go to CUA or American.

I'd say its not worth it to give up that much.  I'm looking at moving for less, but I'm not as tied down as you sound.  CUA is good but I wonder if it would make that much of a difference.  Plus I need your spot at Catholic.

Good luck!

Hey Wallbanger, you realize thats a drink right?  I figure you went to U of M with my brother and thats why you have a... lol anyhow...

MSU looks nice, I spent a lot of time there (and looking at the Law School)

It's no top school, but I think I would set you on a nice track to get a job near there.

and btw I applied at Christmas and I havent heard yet.
Got into Wayne though (159, 3.0, undergrad at MSU '05)
