I just got off the wait list at BC and was offered a 15k/yr scholarship -  I was kinda surprised but really excited about it nonetheless. However, I was/still am committed to Brooklyn Law with $45k/yr scholarship. I'd really like to get into Big Law in NY (I am from NY) and I know that's an extremely difficult endeavor coming out of BLS. However, I was playing the money card by trying to minimize debt (I'd prob be in $75k out of BLS and $150k out of BC). Given these parameters, is the extra debt worth it to pick up my things and head to Boston, or should I stick it out and see what happens at Brooklyn? Thanks!

Choosing the Right Law School / Did I make the right decision?

So I ended up getting off of the waitlist at Fordham and begged and pleaded for some scholarship money, but as expected, no dice. It was definitely my top choice from the start of the application process and after I got waitlisted, I figured I had no shot anyway. I ended up using leverage to get a 45k a year scholarship to Brooklyn Law and decided to go there over Cardozo initially. When I got into Fordham, it was the toughest decision of my life (seriously), but I couldn't fathom being in the enormous amount of debt - roughly 250k including living in NYC - after graduating. I still have the intention of doing big law, which out of BLS is going to be tougher than out of Fordham, and maybe if I do well enough this year I can try to transfer to NYU/Columbia/Penn, but just was looking for some reassurance. Feel free to be as honest as possible. I do not mind criticism no matter how harsh you may end up being.  :o

Background: Went to U of Michigan undergrad and have lived in NY suburbs my entire life.

Right, all very true and fair points. I guess my biggest concern, aside from doing well, resides with job prospects after graduation. Specifically, going to a school with "worse" job prospects and with a scholarship versus going to a school with "better" job prospects and having to pay full price.

Wow, thank you for such a thorough and honest response. In regards to the scholarship, the stipulation states that I have to stay within the top 80% of the class. I would hope that I can maintain this obviously, and compared to most scholarships, this seems fairly generous...

Here's the current situation...

I had also gotten into Cardozo, and although Brooklyn Law took a dip in the rankings, I couldn't justify going to Cardozo at full price. When I told BLS I was considering Cardozo, however, they upped their scholarship offer to $45,000 per year. Practically a full ride, for now it's a no brainer. Also guaranteed housing too.

However, if I am accepted off of Fordham's wait-list, assuming I'd have to pay full price, would it be worth attending Fordham knowing I'll be in an enormous amount of debt, or head to BLS and come out essentially debt free.

Please be as ruthless and as honest as possible - I can take it  8)
