Is anyone watching the Oscars..is that a tattoo on Whoopi?
I was hoping Taraji Henson took the supporting actress but I suppose Penelope Cruz is not a bad choice.

Ditto, but I think this nomination will help her to get more great roles.  More of the "right" roles.

I'll have no GPA from Columbia, the journalism school is entirely Pass/Fail. The problem is my undergraduate GPA, which is a 3.42. I was an English major, and did manage to graduate cum laude.

Whoa.  A 3.42 from Harvard is cum laude?

I find this more douchey than anything he said.  So maybe you're right...

I never said I wasn't one.  Stop playing captain-save-a-negro.

Someone have a bad finals period?  Hope next semester goes better.
Ouch!  Although I will say that if GoneBabyGone is who I think he is on TLS, then he can be a bit suspect.

As far as Harvard, you should've asked around.  I know of 2 black males that got in last year with 163s.  And GPAs MUCH lower than yours.  I'm talking 3.4 ish.  And no strong softs to speak of.  But Chicago is a cool school.  I just hope you fit into the atmosphere there.  Good luck.

He did:

Top 10, focusing on CCN.

I only have 8 months post-grad work experience. Should I still pursue Northwestern?

Probably not.

(BTW, I have a 3.92, not 3.91 like I posted before. Oops).

Also, yes/no HYS?

Yes, you should apply.  I just wouldn't call them targets.  You have a decent chance at Harvard.

Oh lawd...

O.J. Simpson sentenced to at least 15 years

By KEN RITTER 18 minutes ago

LAS VEGAS (AP A broken O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery by a judge who rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity."

Simpson stood stone-faced Friday when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.

"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," he said.

Glass ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

LAS VEGAS (AP O.J. Simpson has apologized to the judge at his sentencing hearing and says he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

Simpson made his statement before sentencing Friday in his armed robber case in a soft voice that was somewhat hoarse.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.

"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," he said.

Judge Glass ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.

I don't think this article mentioned it, but he would be eligible for parole after 6 9 years.

I didn't apply last cycle, so I wasn't admitted or denied.  If I wasn't clear, I got the same exact mailing (or extremely similar) two years in a row around the same time.

I got the same and have similar numbers, but given the timing (relatively late for application invitation type mailings), I suspect that it is just a tool to boost 1) minority application numbers and 2) application numbers in general.  I'm guessing that you got the letter from their BLSA with the sample PS/resumes?  I got the same exact thing last year, too, around the same time.  However, don't let any of the above discourage you from applying.   8)

Nah,Lisa is one of the worst...I don't trust her at all.  You can tell that she's a liar from her rant at Kim on the show, where she blew the whole thing out of proportion (though, I'll give her some leeway bc Kim was talking about how she lost custody of her kids).  But, Lisa is suspect--the whole time she was telling NeNe to be nice, yet she's over there keekee-ing with Sheree and Kim when they talked about NeNe. Those businesses that she has are ridiculously suspect.  Have you seen her websites?  Lawd, have mercy, if I was her, I'd be concerned about the impression that she gives, because personally, I'd never do business with her.  She's filed for bankruptcy, she owes her ex hubby keith Sweat mad money, etc...she's just messy.

That said, I'd hang out with her before Sheree and Kim.

First bolded---Bravo did something very strange with the editing so that the whole thing with Lisa snapping came off really strange.  Not sure what, but they definitely did something.

Second bolded (word!).  Just because you have businesses, doesn't make you a bona fide business person.  Hell, I can form an LLC tomorrow if I wanted to (and had $500).  And, none of those businesses seemed like truly viable money makers (real estate, jewelry, baby clothes)--nope.  Furthermore, Lisa at one point said that she didn't want her injured football husband to play for the money because it "wasn't about the money." riiight.  :-\ :-\ :-\

Yeah I guess maybe I need to learn more...the show portrayed her as on top of things.  But I'd still deal with her before I dealt with any of the others...including Mrs. "Let's invite all of ATL to a charity auction and not charge for tickets."

That part really made me give her the side eye.  She supposedly is "educated," but didn't have the sense to know that she wouldn't be able to raise any serious money (let alone $1 million dollars) without charging for tickets.

Isn't Yale a reach with a 3.3 UGPA?

Not when you have a 172 LSAT and a Ph.d from MIT in biochemistry. Which actually now to me begs the question, "Why law school?" Seems like you'd be set in biochem as a researcher or teaching somewhere.
Hmm...I'm obviously no Yale expert, but I thought that the lowest GPA in the 2008 entering class was a 3.54?

Reread the bolded.
I read it the first time, I just didn't realize that Yale would be willing to lower their lsat range by more than two-tenths for a 172/Ph.d from MIT.  More power to Doctor Esquire if they do. done.
