Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Thoughts on Texas' ASD?
« on: April 01, 2008, 02:46:36 PM »
I agree completely.  The building sucks.  Probably one of the crappiest on the campus.  But, the prospect of Longhorn football on Saturdays more than compensates.  I was also very impressed by the OCI stats they gave out - 60% of the 600-700 employers are out of state, and more than 25% of graduates take full time jobs outside of Texas.  That seems like good chances for people who want to take a job outside of Texas.

bump cmon guys weigh in

update, WashU sent me $$$ offer.  Cmon weigh in guys. Thanks.

thanks for the advice...more is welcome

Choosing the Right Law School / Give me some advice - lot of schools
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:07:47 PM »
Please weigh in on my decision...

Texas resident, but not set on staying here after 4 years of UG here.

In Texas ($ and in state), USC ($$), Fordham ($), Emory ($$$$), WashU, and GW.
WLed at UCLA, Penn, Gtown.
Still waiting on NYU, UVA, Vandy, Northwestern, and Duke.

I don't know where I want to practice, but I want to do some business law type stuff, and wouldn't mind NYC for the big time corporate jobs.  Obviously if by some miracle I get into NYU, I would go there.  But assuming I get rejected or Wled at all the rest, any thoughts?  I do believe I will end up back in Texas in the future, but I don't know if I want to go right away, and I feel that going to Texas, it may be hard to get jobs outside of Texas.  Emory is enticing because of the money but not too crazy about Atlanta and don't know about the national rep of the program.  I like USC but I am worried about the portability of that degree/reputation if I want to move east.  Interested in Fordham but know that I must stay in NYC after UG if I want a good job.  GW didn't offer any money, making it the priciest of all, but it seems to have the national reach, and I honestly don't really want to be in StL so I doubt WashU will happen.  I am lost. Help me.

Anyone hear yet?  Read that some people have gotten acceptance emails on TLS.

to clarify, they arent my top choice and I wont 100% attend if admitted, but I am, very, very interested in going.  Since I'm not going to lie about it, wanting input whether it's just a waste to write one since I have nothing of value to communicate

Law School Admissions / Waitlisted UCLA - LOCI really necessary/helpful?
« on: February 27, 2008, 12:06:11 PM »
Waitlisted at UCLA.  If I have no new information to share, is an LOCI really necessary or helpful?  I just don't know if I need to do one.  Is there anything I can do to improve my chances of getting in off the list?  Has anyone here had any success using LOCI or other tactics to get in off the waitlist?  Thanks for your input.

Law School Admissions / Northwestern Email?
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:17:23 PM »
Did anyone else get an email today from Northwestern offering a fee waiver?  How do they determine who gets these?  Is it possible that LSAC already has our scores and has released certain information to the schools?  I know the bad schools have spammed everyone, but how does a top school like NU decide who to send these to?
