Don't mock me if I'm incorrect here, because I'm still just an ignorant 0L, but didn't the film make a minor mistake in Harvey Dent's trial near the beginning?  He was questioning that mafia guy, and when the witness redacted what he'd said in the deposition Harvey asked permission to treat the witness as hostile.  After the witness tried to shoot him, someone else said to Dent, "Helluva cross," or something like that.

But aren't opposing witnesses already treated as hostile?  I thought the whole point of asking permission to treat someone as a hostile witness was so that you could ask leading questions of your own witness, etc.

Again, don't mock me if I'm mistaken, but this did bug me.

All in all, fantastic movie though.  I know it was preachy, but I thought the preachiness was a bit deeper than is standard for Hollywood.

Not sure about the hostile part, but the "Helluva cross" you mention was something like Gordon telling Dent "I heard you have a hell of a right cross." This was a reference to his punch, not cross-examination. Also, since they had his deposition, I assume he was their (Dent and Dawes') witness, not Maroni's.

Law School Rankings / Re: Curves at law schools and how do they work?
« on: August 01, 2008, 04:01:36 AM »
Nope.  The median is the grade of the student that's right in the middle of the entire class.  If no student gets a B, there's no way the median can be a B (even though the Curve itself could be set at B or B+).

If there are an odd number of students, then yes, it would have to be an A or C. However if there are an even number of students and 1/2 get As and 1/2 get Cs then the median will be a B.

At least at my school the prof has discretion on how to distribute grades to create the median.

If the curb is a B+, the proffessor is within his/her discression to give every person in the class a B+, or to give out only As and Cs with nothing in between.

If the prof only gave out A's and C's, then the median couldn't be a B+. It would either be an A or a C.

It could also be a B.

C'mon, Tulane made it pretty far you hater. My top two picks, Penn and Cooley, were eliminated WAY to early.

I whole-heartedly agree.

Lol, like he wouldn't keep playing. Someone needs to look up his high school career and see how that wouldn't stop him.

Any chance of a recount? Can we make it you have to win by 3 or theres a runoff? Anything??.... I can't believe I remotely care about this, but now I'm upset.
