normally i follow your train of thought (for example, i think it's stupid to pick loyola over, say, pepperdine if you have to pay $20k a year more for loyola) but the problem here is la verne...it's lacking in rep, alumni and solid aba accreditation...these, imo, are HUGE factors...lack of rep and alum may make it rather difficult for you to get a job post grad and the aba accreditation just doesn't stand on enough ground yet...it's the same reason people tend to have an aversion to chapman, except chapman's been around longer and is quite a bit more established than la verne...if la verne is your only option, i can't say it's an awful one, but it's not...
I agree with you that La Verne lacks in those mentioned areas. However, do you think that Southwestern is worth getting into well over $100k in debt? I think that that is a steep price for a t3 school.
I received a phone call one 7/11 saying that I was accepted from the wait list. I called Southwestern today and asked whether or not there was a possibility to receive scholarship funds. They told me that most of the scholarship funds have already been offered to other applicants. I plan on calling tomorrow 7/13 and letting them know that I will not be attending Southwestern this fall.
Thanks for the responses.
I didn't do anything special to get off the waiting list at Southwestern. I received a call out of the blue on Wednesday. They told me I have until Friday to let them know my decision.
I know Southwestern is a better school than La Verne, but I was thinking that the margin of difference between the two schools was not great enough to pay full tuition and attend Southwestern. Does anybody else feel the same way?
I was waitlisted at Southwestern this past spring so I accepted a $25k/year scholarship from University of La Verne. Today I received a call from Southwestern saying that I was now admitted and off the wait list. My numbers are 155/3.75. Do you think that there is a possibility that Southwestern may allocate some scholarship money to me?
If not, which is the better route to go? Southwestern with no scholarship money or La Verne with $25k/year. I will be commuting from the downtown Los Angeles area. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you very much.
