General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / General Housing Advice
« on: May 04, 2008, 10:00:19 AM »
I am considering many housing options for the fall and wanted to get a feel for how others have approached the following issues:

1. Roommate or no roommate? Why or why not?

2. If you had a roommate, how did you find one?

3. Is it best to room with a law student or live with someone in a different graduate program (med, business, phd, etc.)?

4. Should you make home as comfortable as possible given the stress of being a law student OR, is the stress not worth it/high enough to balance out the cost of living/debt management (this assumes, of course, that you are somewhat concerned with the high cost of attending law school)?

Thanks!

Where would you go? Is there any difference in prestige or job placement?

Welcome to the board November! I am also applying this cycle but I thought I might chip in a quick opinion. You said your real score was 10 points below your practice score. If you are set on retaking make sure you reexamine your approach to studying for the LSAT. If your practice tests weren't tightly timed, under real conditions, and with optimal prep, those might be great areas for you to work on before September. The resident old heads can tell you more about gpa than I can but I am sure upward grade trend and a higher lsat score will help your case for getting into top law schools. Good luck!
