Choosing the Right Law School / Increased scholarships after 1L?
« on: July 03, 2007, 06:09:58 PM »
Do alot of schools increase merit scholarships after the first year if you do very well?  Any information relating to Fordham in particular would be extremely helpful.

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem.  Perhaps they're really swamped right now.  I'm going to call admissions tomorrow because I imagine it will be more effective than e-mail.  I probably wouldn't be feeling Fordham either but unfortunately I got my apps in extremely late and they are the only school that accepted me that is worthy of my numbers.  UConn is going to be really cheap for me though so I'm still undecided, though leaning towards Fordham.  I'll post if they tell me anything worthwhile when I call them.  Good luck.

Has anyone recently accepted been able to access the admitted students website?  I am anxious to get on it but it still isn't working for me and admissions has not responded to my e-mails in a few days.

Has anyone just been accepted off the Fordham waitlist in the past week or so?  If so are you able to log in to the admitted students website?  It is still not letting me access it and admissions has not replied to my e-mails.  Anyone having this problem?

I could also go to UConn for pretty cheap.

I don't think you'll have any problems getting into a 25 - 50 school at all with your numbers.  If you retake and do better you could get into a top 25 school.

I just got off as well with 168 and 3.38 - I applied really late.  This complicates my decision quite a bit as well.. and $800 by July 10th.. sheesh!

I've never been to Hartford but I hear it sucks.  Anyway I think I could be happy in either city.  Maybe I'd like NY better but I'm really more concerned with financial safety and opportunities than where I'm living for a few years.

Would a top Fordham graduate make more money in the public sector than a top UConn graduate

I really see myself working for non-profits rather than a huge firm.  I guess I could do biglaw for a few years, but wouldn't it make more sense to just make 40 - 50K doing what I want to do and to have a debt that I wouldn't have too much trouble paying off with that kind of job?  Anyone else?  Please help out I don't have long to decide

Okay so I JUST got off waitlist at Fordham and need to decide by July 10th whether or not to drop $800 for a deposit.

Between scholarship, need based grants, and regional tuition/in state after 1st year, UConn has made it really cheap.  It should cost me no more than $35,000 in tuition for three years.

Fordham has offered me 5K a year in merit scholarship, and I have no information as to need based money yet.

I am definitely not doing big law.

Any advice?
