I heard they only pulled two off the wait list last year, but I don't know that for a fact.  That can vary a lot though, it all depends on how many admitted students decide to show up.

Lol. Not true! I can think of 6 people I know off-hand in c/o 2011 who were W/L-accepts.... and that is not usually information people readily give out. I think we loose a lot of people who get off T12/T10 WL's... I bet at 10-20% of the class came off the WL. (To put an arbitrary % on it, but I heard c/o 2010 was in that range).

EDIT: On LSD alone, it shows 8 WL-Accepts that are now in the c/o 2011 (not including 4 of the ones I know) and 16 overall WL-Accepts.

Are a lot of 1Ls skipping Barrister's?

I've yet to decide. I've never had the chance to go to a formal with the SO at UF... but getting a dress, hair, tux, etc. is such a hassle, part of me is thinking we should just add the $$ to the booze fund for the cruise a week later.  ;)

BTW.. who are you? (PM?) Lol.

Vandy girl dont slide at all! dont even want to know what surprises await you if you even mess up in one class at Vandy...3L will be full of rejections...step up!

Um... what?

Visit, interview, send the form in with a brief "Thank-You" letter to your interviewer (probably G. Todd Morton).

Then, in about a month, send in a LOCI.

This is just my opinion... but you want to space things out, since they probably won't look at the WLs again until late March. If you send the LOCI now, they won't have heard from  you in months by the time they review your application again.

Stetson is a respectable school. If you are just looking for a decent living in central Florida, I wouldn't discount Stetson at all. Obviously, the level of debt matters.

I think living with my SO this year probably would have been a disaster... but that's partially attributable to us BOTH being 1Ls.

I guess it depends on what type of person you are. If you respond to stress badly, you don't want your girlfriend around you 24/7.

I think the benefit of living with 1Ls is purely social. It would help you integrate into your class better.

Academically, seeing my roommates studying when I'm not freaks me out, and makes me want to crack the books when its not necessary. Also... I think it would be nice to come home and hear about someone's day that was NOT exactly like your own.

I guess the bottom line is - If you (1) are a mature person who won't let the stress affect your relationship; and (2) social enough that you don't need the extra boost living with classmates, then I'd say live with your girl.

No. I was 20 until 2 months into my 1L year... it doesn't matter. (Maybe 18, not 20).

All of you who are already at Vandy law- are you planning on staying in Nashville post-graduation or are you planning on moving to an area with more opportunities?  If someone wanted to stay in Nashville/ middle-Tennessee, how hard would it be to find a good ($$$) job?  Compared to cities like Atlanta and St. Louis (and other big but not gigantic cities), how much opportunity is there in Nashville?

I hear it is somewhat difficult, you have to establish some sort of tie that would suggest you are serious about REALLY settling down there. But, the bar might not be very high... In his "mock" interview, a partner from one of the biggest Nashville firms told my boyfriend that "My SO has family in Nashville and she'd like to stay." is a completely legitimate tie to the city.
