I am not ready to accent an offer yet.  I still have to hear from 3 firms(none in that city).   So does that suggest i should go since i cannot yet accept an offer?

2L job search / canceling a callback
« on: October 18, 2008, 02:59:11 PM »
So i have a callback on Tuesday in a city and with a firm that i am no longer interested in.  Should i go on the callback?  I made the plane reservations(no hotel) last weeks before i came to the conclusion that i do not want to be in that city,  so i feel a little like a male private part for wanting to cancel, but it seems like a waste of money if i would not accept an offer with the firm.

Any advice on whether i should go or cancel on monday morning?

well, i finally got an offer myself.  The ratio is very grim indeed...

You're ugly.  HTH.

Probably, but law students and lawyers tend to be pretty homely in general, particularly ones at big law firms.  I would think that i would fit right in  ;D

5 outstanding(1 two weeks since callback, another 8 days since callback, 3 less than a week since callback).  5+ rejections, 4 interviews to go...all v100 firms if that matters at all...

So, I am faring a lot worse than the OP is and I don't know why.  I'm at a top30 school, law review, top 10%.  All of my callbacks(5+) interviews have gone well, no real mistakes that i can tell, and I have nothing to show for it.  By the way the firms are running away from me, i almost feel like my background check must be coming back with a report that I am a child molester.

Most of my interviews tend to run over the 20-30 time allotment, the conversations are engaging(at least i feel that they are), and there has been no awkward responses or silence.  I am interviewing in cities that I have strong connections to and always do a lot of research on the firm/interviewer.

So what gives?  I guess i am "that guy" that brings down the callback-to-offer ratio.  I am waiting to hear back from 5 firms and still have 4 more to go, but I am getting really worried at this point.

What about callback interviews?

There are two firms that I have not heard from either way.   Now that i'm outside the time frame that they gave me to hear back, should I call or email the recruiting coordinator?  Or leave it be?

Law Firms / Re: which firms get most of Lehman's business?

Weil is going to be hit hard by this?  I know they are covering their bankruptcy, but how much of weil's business depends on Lehmans?

Should i bring one copy of every document(references, resume, writing sample, and cover letter) for each person i will be interviewing with at a callback or one set per firm?
