Law School Applications / Re: Poor graduate GPA?
« on: December 21, 2009, 02:11:37 AM »
Only your UGrad GPA is calculated into LSDAS transcript, your graduate grades more or less do not carry a lot of weight as your UGrad grades do. However, you do report b/c the application asks you to list schools you went to; so I don't think you can keep it hidden

I had a low GPA for grad school but a good UGrad GPA. The school I ended matriculating wanted my transcript; so be prepared to answer questions about what happened in your semester at grad school.

2 Weeks Notice is enough notice to give your employer. You shouldn't worry about training the next person or if they find someone before you leave. They'll take care of it, that's their job and their concern no longer yours once you put in the notice.

In your notice, thank them the opportunity to work and that you had a good experience there and when you'll resign.

Don't bend over backwards for a company b/c they don't ever have to do that to you......

Good luck and congrats on law school :)

Where should I go next fall? / Re: WHAT ARE MY CHANCES???
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:48:44 PM »
Like everyone else, I'd say retake definitely. Definitely take a prep course, that's the one thing I wish I did during last year's cycle and it got me nowhere, 9 rejections and 1 waitlist to a crappy school and I have similar stats to yours. Study your little heart out b/c the test is a big deal and I know you know that.

Don't ever sell yourself short for these T3 and T4 just to say you're in law school b/c with your GPA you deserve better really. I hear transferring is really difficult so if you want to aim high do so but be realistic if you take the test and say it doesn't work out then take a year off and re-study and figure out things. I am in the process right now and I am going to grad school in January then doing a second go around for law school for Fall 2009.

Whatever happens you will be fine, believe me :)

Where should I go next fall? / Re: USD, PEPPERDINE OR PENN STATE???
« on: May 18, 2007, 07:53:26 PM »
Penn State is giving me a scholarship that will pay for half my tuition.
Pepperdine is relatively close to vancouver and I have family in LA.
USD seems to be a better school and according to the NALP site has more recruitment opportunities.

Any suggestions or thoughts? Please help! :-[

Well I don't think Vancouver is relatively close to Malibu by any means but if they are giving you a hefty scholarship then I would consider it. It also depends on where you want to eventually practice: the Los Angeles and San Diego markets are different so you really have to decide where specifically you want practice.

I would take that Penn State scholarship lightly, really give it a lot of thought b/c that's a great opportunity.

Good luck!

USC b/c their staff is very helpful and the admission officers are extremely nice. That and  I wanted to go there for as long as I could remember even though I got rejected. and Pepperdine surprised me the most. I am neither really conservative or religious but the admissions staff was really helpful and they say they will answer you in two days by e-mail, they answer in two days :)

Worst: It's actually a four-way tie between University of San Diego, Whittier, Southwestern, and UCLA: all for the same reason, they never let me knew what the hell was going on with my file, never got a postcard or letter of going complete or anything of the like.

I left a voice mail at Whittier about my file and they never called me back *eye roll*
UCLA is taking forever to reject me, and been waiting since January.
USD's admission office is just cold and not helpful. When I asked about my file going complete, it is assumed that if you don't hear from them it went complete, they actually told me that
Southwestern, they insulted my intelligence and were not helping me at all.

Best: USC and Pepperdine. Very helpful and extremely nice admission staff, kind of wished USC accepted me though but I had no choice, so it's all up to Pepperdine now....

Law School Applications / Re: Still Haven't Heard from UCLA?
« on: May 17, 2007, 05:15:36 AM »
Okay I thought I was the only one who did not hear from UCLA, at least I am not alone. Granted I know I will get rejected but at least I would like to know that my application did not fall into a Black Hole or their trash can :)

Denials / Re: Rejections for Fall 2007
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:07:12 AM »
ugh another rejection from University of the Pacific. With 2 rejections under my belt, I'm really scared of what other 8 schools I have applied to are going to say :(

Although, let's just say that Pacific rejection is probably the coldest letter I have ever read.
