Have any of you ever tried kinky-curly custard?  I'm planning on taking out my braids, and my hair stylist recommended it for taming the mane.

I use this for my puffs and shake and go's. It has a very slimy consistency, but it works great to define and tame your curls.

Try Silver Spring...I've noticed a lot of Dominican beauty salons in that area.

I just found this thread, so I'm not sure if anyone linked this website, but www.motowngirl.com has lots of product reviews, techniques, styles, etc. for natural hair! I go there at least once a week to try out her homemade concoctions  :)

Hahahaha!!! Whoa...you need to RELAX!! First off, I wouldn't be commenting if I wasn't doing anything for my community. I also mentor, teach, drive kids to certain programs they're in because they have no transportation, teach english to two young girls who just came here from Togo, etc. I've been volunteering in my community since I was 13, so I am entitled to what I'm saying. You're not the only one who helps out. I was attacking you because you come on here attacking the entire black race in America and saying all we do is listen to rap and value material possessions!!! There was no need for you to do that to ask a simple question about environmental law. If I feel like MY PEOPLE (black people) are being attacked, I'm going to say something!! And who has an ego?? You're the one who's being all uppity and acting like you're too good for the blacks in this nation! All I'm doing is stating my opinion...no need for you to overreact...geeez!!!!!

yup...good questions. I think most of it stems from low self-esteem issues in our community as a whole. We need more black mentors and teachers out there helping these kids out and uplifting their spirits. Seems like we have too many people like the creator of this board who just whine and complain. One person can't change the entire community, but we have to start from somewhere.

I don't disagree, but when can we talk frankly about the changes that need to be made?  can we ever talk frankly?   :-\

Sure! Let's talk frankly :) I wasn't saying that we shouldn't...but that wasn't the best way for him to get his message across....I know I'd be pissed if I was making straight A's then heard that! But of course, our community needs to make some major changes ASAP!!

granted the principal was mad wrong, but isn't it telling that the parents were more upset that he pointed that out than being upset that their children were doing so poorly?  :-\

that's true...you know how some parents get when you tell them something negative about their kid. But, he still shouldn't have said that! Yeah, it may be true, but kids don't respond to negative comments like that

I'm thinking that since HBO will play the same movie about 3 times a day, every day, they will do the same with this! I'm sure there will be plently of times to catch it.
