Obama is rich and Romney's rich so who cares?  I thought Hugo Chavez already told us that Bush was satan and you could actually smell the sulphur.

Haven't heard much about Dean, couldn't really hang in.  Last I heard he was DNC chair a few years back. I never even got to know his politics too well, that scream ended him quick. Wasn't very marvelous.

OP, did you get off a wl yet? Fingers crossed with Penn :).

Saw Dean the other day on msnbc--he was trying to give Obama advice about how to take on Romney via Chris Matthew's show.  They don't like the White House going negative.

What gives with some of the mods?  They just delete posts when they feel like it or ban people with whom they don't agree?  That's bogus.  I think the one moderator is bluewarrior and that guy has been posting since 2004.  It's a little hypocritical especially with this being a law school discussion forum.

I think you posted in the wrong place.  And I'd rather not usurp the OP's thread here.  Not too much help anyone can really giver her at this point, but you never know- maybe there is some maneuver I never heard of.

Ifc I'm not mad at you. This is just a forum, anger has no place here.  Sarcasm, banter, playful rhetoric- yes, but actual anger- no.  You can like or dislike whomever you choose, that won't piss me off.

I hope you're not solicitus, not anger, but whew- I felt like I was picking on a kid in Jr. High with that guy.

Nah, you just dropped our discussion about howard dean.  I guess I was wrong.  I come on this board once in a while and you got a good sense of humor.  Good chatting with you.

What happened fortook?  Are you pissed off at me now?  I actually like Dean; I just don't like his new endeavor.

General Off-Topic Board / Re: The 99% myth
« on: April 29, 2012, 11:21:19 AM »

Most Americans pay either no taxes at all (or virtually none) many get MORE back then they pay in.

So knowing that, how does the 99% BS make any sense at all?

Lawyers and Doctors pay taxes. Most those bellyaching about life and being pumped up about it get paid by uncle sam a profit each year and are just too dumb to realize it.

People want a job? I can feel that.

People crying that the "rich" ($100,000 a year is "rich" in their minds even with $100K in loans and business debts) not paying enough taxes but then getting paid a profit each year for just not being dead?.........There is a reason why only 3% of Americans get a PhD and less that a third even a BA (they are morons). Yet those morons vote.........can't do math to save their god damn lives, but they vote (by asbentee so they can stay on the couch, but they still do it)

This is about assigning blame.  If the government wants to raise taxes on those who make over $300,000 so be it.  That might help us get out of debt with China but that 1% fixation is ridiculous.

seriously, law school students have time to watch leagal series like Boston Leagal?

may I know how many of you like learn about law stuff in this way??

These shows are very entertaining for those of us who have a passion for the law; we are not watching "Pawn Stars".  It is fun to see how hollywood portrays lawyers, litigation and the "candy" social culture that surrounds our area of interest.

So sue, me. Right?

You know, its not harsh--it's sad.  What I mean is that Dean was once a good p.s. now he is just self promoting--taking money for his political entertainment dialogue from any t.v. news outlet that will hire him.  My comparison is that Huckabee did it and Palin did it--hell, even crazy Sharpton has his own show, now--when he's not doing his "roadshow".

Martinez might be a prospect for Romney as V President.  New Mexico has 5 electoral votes which Obama got last time; latino and female voters may be a draw.  I'm still not sure, though.

Romney will be mentioning the economy and jobs till November;  Obama will be doing the Republican dance of '08 in that we don't know Romney.

Gonna get ugly. :-\

Those flyover states are gonna be a tough for Obama.

The way of Palin? That's pretty harsh.

That's the first I've heard of Condi even being considered, even now the Bush connection is politically too dangerous.  Rubio, 1) said he doesn't want it and 2) actually polls badly in FL (which makes me chuckle a little).  McDonnell or Portsman (I think that's his name, the OH guy) are probably the most likely at this point.

I feel for the repubs- the way things are structured in the electorate now, moderates are alienated and repub candidates are forced to make strong conservative alliances to appeal to a minority, but essential group of voters thus freaking out moderate voters who are needed in a general.  They have a self defeating set up.  We'll see if Romney can shift smoothly and fast enough from conservative to moderate. McCain, incidentally, shifted too strong and too fast to appease the right wingers, but freaked out the mods. Opps.

That's not harsh; its the truth: Huckabee, Palin and Dean are all shills now for entertainment news.
I think Moderate Conservatives and Independent Conservatives already think of Romney as a Moderate no matter how much he tried to wear the far-right and Tea Party hat.  It's his business instincts and business background that is key.  Moderates and Independents see through the media hype.  Right wingers and most Teabaggers do not want Obama running the show and will come out in full force anyway.  So, bottom line--close election.

Rubio is not totally out and what about that female vote?   Could be a female politician selected from a swing state, too.

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Serena Southerlyn was a lesbian?
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:45:29 AM »
Maybe those of you who watch L&O can answer this for me.

D.A. Arthur Branch: [to Serena] "You're fired."
ADA Serena Southerlyn: [pauses, shocked] "Is this because I'm a lesbian?"
D.A. Arthur Branch: "No, no... of course not."

Did she ever do or say anything that would suggest she was a lesbian?

Doesn't seem to be in the script but behind the scenes Branch knew she had a huge K.D. Lang collection.  The monotone delivery of lines was so boring the writers had to give her a twist to peak continued interest in the show.  After all, isn't it all about ratings?

Looks like Rubio has fallen into second place behind Democrat Condi Rice for the v.p. slot.
It probably won't happen though, as the Democrats would be mentioning g.w.b as much as possible.  Ironically, the fact that Obama totally embraced  g.w.b. U.S. defense policies since he took office is never mentioned by either party.
