Law School Admissions / Black Jesus Returns!
« on: January 11, 2010, 04:36:46 AM »
What up y'all? I once posted regularly on the 4LawSchool discussion board, but it has since shut down.  >:( Anyway, I wanted to stop by and let y'all know that I have successfully graduated from law school after bombing the LSAT...not once, but TWICE! Since then, I've managed to find some respectable employment, too! I know my story is unusual in these hard times, so I am starting to document my happenings and wanted to invite y'all to come check it out.

Take a look, hopefully you'll find it useful!

Thanks for the help.  Any other inside info people are willing to give me would be great.

What do you think of the on-campus options? Viking Hall??

Western New England / How is this place???

I got accepted here not too long ago. I'm wondering if anyone has anything to say about it! It looks like a pretty good school. Anyone care to comment?

You take 2 classes in the summer, so you could easily volunteer somewhere for a few hours a week to have something to put down on your resume.

Thank you for your reply! So the transitional thing is pretty common over there? I am a little concerned about the idea of summer classes. I know most students who enroll in summer courses at places like NYLS, where they need to "proove themselves" in order to gain admission, find it very, very difficult to get a respectable grade. Are the summer courses at Toledo like that? Or do these summer classes for the transitional programs turn out to be a little more humane?? I'd be afraid to find myself in a sick contest for survival after finishing the first semester!

Also...what's up with the attrition rate being so high???

Thanks again for your input! :)

I don't like this transitional thing one bit. It basically forces you out of getting a summer associate position after your first year. Instead, we are stuck taking classes over the summer.

Anyone else think that this transitional program could end up messing up future chances at employment? I can't imagine sitting in front of a potential employer after my 2nd year, and when he asks what I did during my first summer, I'd have to say "I needed to take classes to get caught up!"

If I told Toledo I don't want to be in their transitional program - and I'd accept an offer to a full-time schedule, do you think they would give in?

I definitely agree.  Had they offered me a slot in the full time program, it would not even be an issue.  I am just apprehensive about doing an evening program.  I called them and they very graciously gave me until Monday.

I have greatly appreciated everyone's input.....

What did you decide?

Hey y'all! I think I'm gonna be headed to C-M in the fall!! Anyone else thinking C-M might be the place to be? Tell me what's up!

I'm feelin' the cheap tuition, and it looks like if I do well, there are a number of bad-ass law firms that might want to hire me (Jones Day?)! What do you guys think? I am completely psyched, and plan on visiting real soon!

YO! What up? Black Jesus here. I might be going to C-M. How did y'all like it??? Was the first year good? I am going to be visiting next weekend - what should I check out? I hear that rent is cheap, food is good, and that if you do well, you can land some killer jobs (Jones Day?)! Let me know what you think. I am psyched.
