Where should I go next fall? / Re: Attending American?
« on: April 04, 2006, 08:19:29 PM »
Hey everyone,

Anyone by chance apply for the joint JD/MA in International Affairs program? I still haven't heard from the MA portion of my app and wondering if anyone else has...or if anyone has input on whether they view this as a good program given that it only requires the extra semester. Effects on employment prospects?

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!!  :)

Thanks for all the descriptions, folks! Definitely is really useful and I'll probably head down for the event later this month.

So, just to clarify -- it turns out that scholarships are in fact only for 2Ls and 3Ls? Argh, this is a little saddening...  :-\

Cheers to the drinking club! I'll def be signing up for that one!

In regards to the scholarship question, whoever I spoke with at financial aid didn't say whether it was something we would have to apply for or if it's just considered automatically (I should have clarified before hanging up  :-\)

Argh, i wish i was going Friday now!  :(

Sure, Santi! Glad to help...it's great to talk to other potential AU folks for next fall! Also, just FYI, I have a friend at a top 10 firm in DC and he let me know that they were actively recruiting 6 candidates from American from this year's graduating class...good news for such a large firm I think!  :)

jtrich: I spoke with Financial Aid on Friday and was informed that scholarships at American won't be considered until the fall, when enrolled students can apply for them. If that's something to consider then that's always good news...also, I just got my fin. aid. offer on Friday so I'm not sure how far along in the process they are?

Santi:

Was reading the thread and i have to honestly say that as someone who went undergrad to GW and was really involved in the DC political scene, everyone's telling me not to be disappointed by only being accepted to American! It's looking like my first choice too and every lobbyist and Capitol Hill staffer I have worked with has expressed a really, really high regard for WCL; im personally feeling much better about the school.  ;D

Wont be at Admitted Students Day, though -- waited too long and airfare from MA is a little killer right now...let everyone know how it goes though!

Hey All!

I'm def a newbie at LSD, but I've been keeping an eye on this Boalt chat! Anyone care to venture a guess regarding whether the absence of the update e-mail may mean bad news!? Im not expecting to get in with my #s, but it would be a dream come true... :-\

Cheers!
Justin
