New Haven in the news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6913493.stm
For obvious reasons, I am a little more excited about dropping anchor in New Haven now.
Edit: I didn't mean to suggest that I'm an illegal immigrant, just that I agree politically and personally with the policy described in the article.

red posts here, or used to, or whatever. y'all shoulda gone to the student dinner I did
And the New Haven airport. Gawd that flight sucked.
Are you the person who shared a cab with prole and me?
That was my first ever cab ride and it almost ended in disaster. I still owe you those four bucks, Stuart. Don't let me forget.

wow, that's a lot. how many people are gonna be in our class? did they reimburse people for travel expenses?
Reimbursement was linked to financial need, so if you needed you got it. It certainly helped me make it across the country, even if I did have to suffer through an eight-hour layover in Dulles. It was worth it.

Have any of the current YLS students served as a T.A. for undergraduate courses? How easy is it to get one of these positions? I did some T.A-ing while in undergrad, and I found the experiences to be both enlightening and financially awesome. I'm not thinking about doing it during the Fall, but I want to plan ahead.
Ken: It was nice meeting you at the admit weekend, have fun at the H and I'll see you in a year.

So, I'm looking into prospective Mac laptops for the uncoming law school onslaught:
Do you guys think that the Mac Book Pro's 15 inch screen is too large for class use? Will I look like an ass?
Should I stick with the Mac Book's more humble 13 inch screen?

Am I the only one that is still missing the Yale mailing?
I'm freaking out a little because I know, for a fact, that they were sent to my "college" address. My former roommates are on call to intercept it and send it back to me, but alas-nothing has shown up. I spoke to Yale and they don't have duplicates on hand to send out to me.

good idea- I'll have to look into the portable ACs. My room is small, so all I really need is something powerful enough to keep me comfortable when its hot outside. Thanks for the advice!
Sorry to hijack-but where in the Valley are you from? I hail from Fresno.

I find it surprising that Harvard resorts to such yield-obsessive strategies so late in the game, but I guess all schools feel the need to play the rankings game.
I attempted to withdraw by email a couple of weeks ago and I was told I needed to submit, by regular mail, a signed letter stating that I wanted to be withdrawn and that an email was not enough. I just shrugged and decided to let them eventually reject me.
I received a waitlist notice by mail and ignored it. I then received the phone call email this Monday. I responded with a curt "NO." Toby wrote back thanking me for the reply. And then I received an email, half an hour later, from anothe admissions officer letting me know that my application had been succesfully withdrawn. I guess I should be happy that they didn't just up and reject me.

Has anybody received any sort of confirmation from Yale concerning the deposit?
I just got the "you're almost in interview email" from Harvard and I want to make sure that, by some fluke, I don't have to make use of the offer.

I still haven't sent in the facebook photos. I sent in the deposit and included a little note saying that I'd submit the remaining materials later.
They specifically say not to do that. Who do you think you are?
Say it with me now...
(also, I don't recall any notice saying not to do that. Oh well, whatever).
I'm just teasing you. As far as I know, there is no rule concerning when the facebook photographs have to be sent in.
