Law School Discussion

Born and raised in Philadelphia.  Of the schools you named, I would pick Villanova.  Don’t know much about Dickinson, but I do know their alumni are not strong in Philadelphia.  Basically, Penn, Villanova, and Temple students have the best shot in Philly.

Rutgers is a good school and does ok in philly, but I would only chose Rutgers over nova if you are a NJ resident. If you are a PA resident, I would shoot for temple.  It’s a better school than nova and a lot cheaper.

Don’t pick Drexel, unless they offer you a good scholarship (they offered my one, which I turned down, when I transferred).  Drexel is a good school and they are on the rise, but they have no alumni and are relatively unknown.

Yes I am a PA resident.  Temple is my #1 choice, but with the economy down I fear many students will be attempting to transfer to Temple.  Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I may be better off staying at a T4 with a 22k scholarship or transferring to a school like Villanova (around 35k a year!)?

I am in a similar situation. I am in the top 5% at a T4.  I am looking at schools in Philadelphia.  I think you have a good shot at getting into Drexel.  Although it is a T3 it's a new school and I think at least that their rank will increase in time. It may be hard to get into Temple or Villanova unless your grades improve.  I have heard that Rutgers Camden is easy to transfer into and it is a pretty good school. For schools outside of Philly I just had a buddy transfer into Brooklyn Law from a T4.  Syracuse also may be a possibility.  I would look at Duquesne too if Pittsburgh is a city you are interested in.
