Law School Admissions / What are my chances at the T20 next year?
« on: April 15, 2007, 09:50:19 PM »
171 LSAT, 3.30 UGPA polisci from TTT. Pursuing MA in IR, ~3.5 GPA when I graduate (at GWU Elliott). No work experience minus a few pointless internships. Virginia resident (hopefully).

What are my chances at T20? UVA would be my top choice (why I'm trying to establish residency), what would my chances be there?

Got WL notification from Washington University in St. Louis last week.  It has given me far too much hope and was just wondering if anyone could speculate as to my chances of getting accepted off the list.  Only a 3.2 GPA and a 160 LSAT, so I'm below all of their numbers, but still landed on the WL.  What can I do to better my chances?  Any insight is greatly appreciated, I really want to go here.  Thanks!

I would say to wait a year and get some sort of substantive job in the interim.  In regards to your questions about the games section, definately enroll in a class (I took TestMasters and believe it was the best money I ever spent).  Games are all about setup and time management, and watching a 99th percentile instructor map out games and take you through them step-by-step makes all the difference in the world.  I actually started off missing 6-8 questions in the games section, and aced the section on the actual LSAT (too bad I missed a combined 15 questions on the LR sections).  So definately take some time to work and invest in a class.  Just my .02, hope it helps a bit.

I am considering just purchasing Visa gift cards for my recommenders.  I know it seems unoriginal, but it is less tacky than just giving cash and they can be used practically anywhere (i.e. dinner for two, chocolates, etc.).  This way the rec. can just get something they want/need and I don't have to put too much effort into deciding what they would like.  As far as amount goes, I was looking between $25-50 for each recommender (I only have two so it won't hurt my pocket that bad).  Just an opinion.
