I have actually heard of the "legacy" thing, and I will definitely check that out!  Even though Ole Miss doesn't necessarily have a national presence, it does have strong local ties which would help me out tremendously!  Thank you!!

Hamilton - You know someone who transferred from Cooley to a T14?  That's extremely impressive!  That makes me feel a lot better just knowing that.  Do you know what school he/she transferred to?

hahaha.. thank you for the advice!! Both of my parents are alumni from Ole Miss, so hopefully that will help.  I noticed on LSN that they only had 3 people transfer in though.. that doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy!

FSU and ASU are also on my list for similar reasons.  (forgot to add those in my previous post. Sorry!)

Thank you very much for the replies!  I am actually looking to transfer to Ole Miss, or Pepperdine law.  I know that those are two very different schools as far as rank and location are concerned, but those are the two places that I actually want to practice. (I have family close to both)  I'm just a little nervous because of all the Cooley bashing that I have noticed.  I realize that Cooley is not the premier law school in the nation, but I was hoping that I could attend there for my first year with a scholarship, and then transfer to my school of choice.  Also, I completely understand that going to law school with the intent of transfer is not a smart move!!  My only problem is that my undergrad GPA was a little bit low, and I didn't get into either school on my first attempt.  Do you guys think it might be possible?  Are either of these schools transfer friendly?  Thank you for all of your help and advice!

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer from Cooley to a T1 if I am in the top 10% of my class?? Any success stories would be greatly appreciated, and will make me feel a lot better about my chances!!  Thank you in advance, and I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Thank you very much!!  :) I'm extremely excited about law school, and can't wait for it to start!  You are 110% correct about applying to a variety of law schools.  Like you said, the worst thing that can happen would be for them to say "no"! By the way, are you currently a law student, or have you graduated?? From your posts, you seem like you've done this before!!  8)

Honestly,  that is  a very good question!  Unfortunately, for me, I really messed up during my UG.  My LSAT score is high enough to get a 50% merit scholarship at Cooley, but I honestly feel that I wouldn't have a chance at acceptance from UM or MState.  Basically, Cooley and the other lower T4 schools are my only option.  Cooley is my top choice due to the scholarship offer, but I'm still a little hesitant due to the numerous stigmas that go along with Cooley.  By no means am I saying that Cooley isn't a good school; I'm just stating that some people's perspective of Cooley isn't exactly "fantastic".   I guess there is a little piece of me that might like to go to Cooley and attempt to transfer, but one should never head off to school with the thought that transferring is their only option. First and foremost, I want my matter what.  I just want to make sure I get it from a school that I am going to be proud of.

Well, I finally received my acceptance letter, and will be starting school on May 2nd, 2011.  I have read numerous discussion threads and blogs deterring students from going to Cooley, but I guess I just want to hear some feedback from current students or alumni.  Are the myths true?  Is there a massive curve that I am going to battle, and an unscrupulous attrition rate to overcome?? I like to think of myself as an intelligent individual, but things of this nature make me a little uneasy.  Law is something that I want to make a career out of, and I would really like to spend my time at law school learning and retaining information instead of kicking, screaming, and trying to keep my head above water.  Any information would be greatly appreciated, as I need to make a final decision in the next few weeks.  Thank you in advance, and I hope you have a fantastic day!

Also, I would love to get in touch with anyone else who will be starting in May.  Please feel free to email me, or reply to this post!!!
