Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Iowa and BYU really that good??
« on: July 22, 2004, 03:03:00 PM »
i don't think that jsmagichat is really a mormon and, if he is, he's a really terrible example. there has been some mormon bashing on this site and i think that jsmagichat is just fueling the fire with his own biases.

byu is a good law school. i know of a lot of mormon and non-mormon byu alumns who loved it, and are doing quite well now. although, if presented with the choice, i would probably choose harvard over byu (even though "One L" nearly scared the crap out of me).

It just makes me think of the Pelican Brief.

I'm waiting to see where I decide to go, and then I might send my recommenders a thank you note with a memento from my new school ...

Yeah, she's got high standards. I gotta love her, though, because she's my sis.

She went to China.

She's been a great role model for me, although I think she buys into the theory that going to law school is "selling out".

Zpops, I really hope you get into Yale. Good luck.

Then, when you are a professor, you can pull some strings to get me a job in your law library ...

My sister is PBK and a Fulbright scholar. Damn her. Her hubby is a successful attorney with a 6-figure salary. Damn both of 'em.  ;) jk ... although I am really jealous.

I got my first ding today, but it was a polite ding.  Waitlisted at HLS.  So now I know 100% that I'm going to NYU if Yale doesn't come through, so in a way this makes my life simpler.  But it still hurts to get my first ding  :'(

My sister applied to law schools at the same time I did, and we both like to joke about our dings. She got another one the other day and said, "So, I took the rejection letters, framed them, and now I have a matching set of 6 on my wall!"

Plus, being waitlisted isn't a true ding. And there are thousands of us who would do anything to go to NYU ...

What's up with those Yalies? Ugh, the torment of waiting for a decision!!!!  ;)
