I still haven't heard anything (and neither have any of the bc pwlisted posters on xoxohth)

i called yesterday and the woman i spoke with said that they were just starting to review pwl files and that selected candidates should start to hear sometime in the next 2 weeks. she was polite but abrupt and did not even give me the opportunity to identify myself.

i wouldn't worry too much yet b/c it seems as though only one person received a call and rumor has it that bc was short on their projected deposits this year...

Law School Admissions / Re: Letters of Acceptance

Jesus Christ Tahoe...I have already explained that LSAT and UGPA are the two MAIN criteria by which the qualification of an applicant is judged - nobody can disagree with this. Also, it is accepted that all other determinants of qualification are secondary and are used merely to further distinguish between similarly qualified candidates. Since the person in question was grossly underqualified in terms of the main criteria, the secondary criteria should not even come into play.

she was NOT grossly underqualified in terms of LSAT/gpa.  the 25th percentile LSAT at Boalt is 160, she barely falls below that.  her gpa is right up there near the 50% range...add in exceptional experiences, personal statement, and LORs and you have a highly qualified candidate for admission.

congrats on boalt cal and ruskiegirl...
i would like to point out that none of us have any idea how boalt calculates their index numbers.  however, based on their mean lsat and gpa figures compared to those of similarly ranked schools, i would suggest that boalt places a greater weight on undergraduate gpa than lsat score in their admissions process.  if you look at the data from the usnews rankings, boalt's 25% gpa is higher than that of every law school ranked above them with the exception of harvard, stanford, and yale.  their 25% lsat, however, is 160...eight points lower than that of geprgetown, whom they are ranked above.
i think Boalt knows what they are doing...potential for academic success is not best measured through performance on one standardized test.
