Minority and Non-Traditional Law Students / A Registered Dental Hygienist thinking about going to Law School

Hello everyone,
I am a newbie here, and I have a question, if anyone can help me out.
I just recently graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene. My mom is a dentist, so by default, i was geared towards dental school but I have always been thinking of going to Law School. I am thinking about going towards medical law, however, I have no experience at all in the law field, since all I have been doing were related to dentistry. I was wondering, do the admission look at how much experience you have and your background? I am doing a huge shift here, any advice on my next step? beside taking LSAT and apply? I know how competitive this process is.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thank You.
