Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Vanderbilt Phone Call

Did you give them a call back yet?

No, I was thinking of it. But then I thought I would wait for the mail. I get really nervous when I have to call people I don't know, so I put it off for a long time.

Did you apply there?

How much would it take for you to change your mind and go to Vanderbilt vs Boston?

Probably at least 15k, I don't know if I could live in the south, and TN is at least 15 hours away from home.

Merit-based, I believe. I haven't rcved the Federal Aid stuff yet.

Initially offered $10k/yr with no restrictions, then when I told them I was already committed somewhere else, plus had a better offer from UVA, was asked how much they could offer to get me to change my mind. So my take is that it's still negotiable.

HTH. :)

Yeah, I think they would have to offer me a good amount since I sent in my deposit to BU and was planning to go there.

I got one a couple days ago--it was an acceptance. Good luck!

Did they mention any money over the phone?

Did anyone get a Vanderbilt phone call today? What'd they say? I did, and they left a message to call back. I figured I would call tomorrow, since it's kind of late. Is there already a topic about this?

Still waiting on the initial decision. >:(

Me too. But at this point it doesn't matter because I probably won't change my plan to go to BU.

Law School Admissions / Re: Rudest Admissions Offices
« on: April 19, 2006, 03:22:56 PM »
Fordham wasn't per say rude to me, but when I went to visit they made me feel like they didn't care if I was even there or not. They gave me a sheet for a self-guided tour, and I had to wander around Manhattan trying to find their law school building. The first time I found it the security guard wouldn't let me in to see the school! I had to go find the admission office (in another building), get the piece of paper that said "self-guided tour" before going back to the law school and being let in.

Also W&L has an awesome admission office, they always were really nice.

Vandy!!! I want to call them up and say, "did you guys lose my application?"

So Zeshy, are you headed there?

I'm still going to visit Duke, but I really liked it as well.  I'm so torn at this point...

The way it looks now, it seems like I am headed there.  I'm on a bunch on waitlists, however, and will wait to see how those turn out.  I'd be more than happy to go to Cornell, though, and am really excited to go there in the fall, if thats how everything works out.  Cornell really made a good sales pitch this weekend and it would be hard for me to turn them down.

Also, I have a good friend who is 1L there and having someone that I'm close with and can help me through things is a big plus.  He had nothing but good things to say about his time at Cornell so far (except that he didn't like living in Hughes, but I guess that's more of a personal preference... I've heard some say that they love it, and some say that they hate it...).

On a side note, during the financial aid session, they said that they began mailing financial aid packages out late last week and will continue to mail them out this week.  Something to keep an eye out for during the week.....

Thanks for the info about financial aid, I like run home everyday seeing if they sent me something.

just wondering if anyone would be nice enough to tell me when the first deposit is due, im assuming its the 15th of april but ya never know, thanks in advance

In my booklet it says postmarked by the 17th.
