IMO:  If you want to work in NYC after graduation, pick Cardozo.

Anywhere else, Nova.

I have read LSC and parts of PLS so far (it is 1000 pages), and although I obviously cannot say which works better since I am a 0L, I definitely am finding PLS to be a better read.

LSC seems to take the work harder not smarter approach.  PLS sorta takes a work harder AND smarter approach.  And it has more real life examples of essay questions and cases that I am already finding very interesting.

PLS is a completely negative book (very anti-establishment) but if you cut through all of the guy's rants against law schools/professors I'm finding it to be pretty helpful.

Haven't read G2M.  If I do, I think I will save it for later.

Any strong opinions (either positive or negative) on Planet Law School out there?

New member to this board, and UPENN 2012 as well.

I also applied for this past fall, but instead of deferring, I was deferred (only offered admission for fall 09 even though I applied for fall 08).  It's been a LONG wait, looking forward to it.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / PREPPING FOR 1L -- HELP
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:38:52 PM »

I am new to this board, and am beginning law school at a T14 school in the fall.  I have read so many conflicting opinions on what (or often what not) to read and study during the months leading up to the first day of classes.

Specifically, I have seen opinions ranging from following the Planet Law School course to a T, all the way down to "don't read anything at all" before starting law school.

Can someone either point me to a thread discussing this, or share their opinion?  Thanks so much.
