At this point, I have more or less narrowed it down for many of the same reasons (AustinBerkeley). I feel like I need to get out of Texas and I want to go into academia eventually which drives me toward a top 10 (berkeley or Chicago). Going out to visit Chicago in a couple weeks. Truth is I absolutely love the city so it may draw a little more than Berkeley but money is definitely a factor too. I'm still waiting on my Berkeley scholarship ap/matching scholarship request (UVA at 25k a year) but here's my money situation now.
Chicago- 65k in loans (0 scholarship)
Berkeley- 14k grant + 56k in loans
Texas- 15k/year scholarship + 36k in loans
Texas upped my scholarship recently but then released their new tuition figures which were about 7k higher than last year (almost the same amount they increased my scholarship). Ouch. The only real draw they had besides Austin was cheap. No thank you.
