I really liked the idea of this thread when it was first started by the OP:

I figured we should start this board so that everyone applying this cycle has a better idea of where everyone else within their stat range has been accepted. I'll begin...

Michigan Summer Start
my numbers are:
3.5, 165
came via snail mail during early December

I'm applying in the next cycle and there really isn't a site geared towards URMS. LSN is filled with fudged numbers and half the time those people don't even come back to update their profile or simply delete the information entirely.

I kept up with this thread but it appears that it's basically taken a life of it's own with people posting accepatances but no stats to do comparative analysis. Come on - what gives? If you're only going to post the schools you've applied to without delving your stats, eagerly coming back to refresh us with the size and content of today's envelope, aren't you better off posting on the general board with the other T-14 threads?

P.S - Thanks to those who did post their stats.

My Numbers are: 3.66, 157. Yes...those are my real numbers. It was completely unexpected and I'm really excited about this opportunity to attend UMich.I feel truly blessed that the admissions committee put some serious consideration to my application.

In at UMich. Got a big envelope yesterday with a nice handwritten note from Assistant Dean Sarah Zearfoss, flashdrive and  a UMich portfolio. I'm still in shock because this was completely unexpected. Soooo excited!

Law School Admissions / Re: George Washington Essay question?

I actually pretty thoroughly cut mine down from about 850 words to their strangely low 500 word limit. Hopefully they'll at least give me a few points for following the rules.

I went through the hilarious exercise of cutting from around 850 to 500, also. I might have been better served by writing a brand new essay. But, as ryans says, maybe following instructions has some marginal value. But maybe not.

On another GW-specific note, has anyone had significant wait time to go complete? My app was in a month ago with everything ready to be sent over there, and other schools haven't had this kind of wait time. Just checking to see if anyone has had a similar experience. Do they have a status checker?

I emailed last week to confirm and haven't gotten a response. It seems like they're just taking a long time to let applicants know. I sent mine in a month ago as well.

Law School Admissions / Re: No Email Confirmation after submitting apps?

Hey so I submitted my apps about a week ago to 10 schools. 8 schools have sent me an email saying that they have received my app and gave me info for a status checker. However, I haven't received any email correspondence from either Georgetown or NYU. Both requested my LSDAS report within a day or two of submitting my app. Any reason to be concerned about this?

For Georgetown, you have to go to their website and create an account, which will give you access to their status checker. I submitted my application in early November and just realized this point early this week when I called the admissions office and heard it on the voicemail.

Law School Admissions / Re: REJECTED, ETC. TODAY

So I just got a "we think you're cute, but we are going to wait to see if someone hotter comes along; if not, then i guess we'll go out with you" letter from Georgetown yesterday.  Specifically, it said that every year they get a large number of early applicants who are also extremely qualified, which makes addmissions decisions difficult. Once they get a better sense of the entire applicant pool they will reevaluate my application in January and send me a final decision no later than Feb.13th.  They also said only a small number of applicants have had their applications held.

I was under the impression that if you applied early, you sometimes had a slightly better chance because not as many people get around to submitting their apps until thanksgiving or later. Was I off base here? Because considering that assumption, this letter throws me.  I was also wondering if anyone else got a similar letter, or had any thoughts/knowledge as to what my chances might be.

I just got the same letter from Georgetown. Better than a flat out rejection. Is there anything to do express my continued interest?
