Where should I go next fall? / W&L waitlist« on: March 18, 2009, 04:19:20 PM »
I'm on the W&L waitlist with a huge amount of people. What are peoples' thoughts on this huge waitlist and on chances of getting off? This also seems a huge departure from W&L's acceptance process last year.

Where should I go next fall? / deferrer a year?« on: February 06, 2009, 11:15:39 AM »
Does anyone have first hand knowledge of deferring a year or asking to deferrer? I have a really unique job oppurtunity that I can only take if I put of school for a year. Also does anyone know anything in general about how willing schools are to deferrer scholarships? Thanks.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Surprise Acceptances this cycle« on: January 31, 2009, 09:37:54 AM »I got accepted to SMU with a 3.47 GPA and a 156 LSAT which is below their 25th percentile. I'm almost positive that I won't be seeing any grants/scholarships, so the acceptance is pretty much just a pat on the back. Thats pretty great, Im applying to SMU and havent heard yet. Did u have absurd softs or something really unique in your essay? 6

Schools know that the GPA/LSAT evaluation is far far from perfect. Being able to prove yourself in Law school often goes a longer way in their eyes than the index number.
Yeah you have to be in the top 20% of your class to transfer to a higher tier. That being said its not like its some sort of wet dream to accomplish that, a class HAS to have a top 20%, so why not you? Also the lower end schools will have a greater proportion of students that cant handle Law school and a larger attrition rate, which obviously isn't going to hurt your chances. 7
