Choosing the Right Law School / Re: what schools? I'm lost

but then again, many people have good soft factors.  They'll probably give you a little boost, but not much.

That's exactly what I was thinking.  Good list though for the region and I think I'll do a bit of reading when I return home next week.

I wonder what I can do to get a bit of an edge on those super reach schools, as UNC and Wake were where I really had my eyes focused before the LSAT.

Also, do any of you know anything about Univerity of Melbourne's law school?  Or the other JD programs down under?

Choosing the Right Law School / what schools? I'm lost

I am looking DC/VA/NC/SC/GA/TN region and the Southwest for schools.

Numbers: 3.09 UGPA from Miami (OH) in Finance and a 158 LSAT.

Background: Take year off to teach in Japan, Worked in major Chicago bank for summer, held two high responsibility jobs while in school (head manager at bar 2yrs, lab tech for 200+pc's)

I've also got a handful of killer LOR's

I'm just a bit lost on which schools to apply to.  I feel my numbers are holding me back even though I've had the experience and jobs to qualify me for a better school.

Any ideas on schools?

I guess my number 1 right now is UNC, but with my GPA and LSAT it'd be a stretch.

Law School Admissions / Re: How much did your GPA change?

how do you guys figure out your major gpa's? Does your school provide it for you? Or do you calculate it based on the classes required for your major/honors degree?

Probably just calculate it on the classes required for OR falling within your major's department code FIN, HIS, POL etc.

The my LSAC GPA was the same as the Uni one I had.

Shoot it to me in a PM and I'll give you some feedback.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Is anyone taking the lsat abroad tomorrow?

I visited yesterday just to make sure I could find the building.

It's being administered at Temple University's Tokyo Campus, so at least it will have the familiar feel of home!
