LSAC and LSDAS / Dumb, I know
« on: December 26, 2005, 05:09:01 PM »
But how exactly does the LSAC process work... I know you fill out the application with them then have it sent to the school you're going to apply to then the school request a report? I don't know what the report is all about.. If you have any general information about the way the process works I'd be glad to hear it... thanks

Law School Applications / What to do about shady recomendors
« on: December 26, 2005, 03:28:27 PM »
Most of the schools I wish to apply to require 3 LORs and some require only 2 so I went to 4 of my professors, quite some time ago, to discuss their willingness to write for me.  I thought it would be a good idea to try and get 4 so I could have a backup just in case something went wrong.  All 4 agreed to write for me, took my LSDAS form, took my personal statement and my transcripts and that was it.  I went back to these perfessors to give them friendly reminders and even sent them emails to remind them but now, as of the end of Dec., only 1 of them has sent their letter to LSDAS.  What do I do about this? I don't wanna nag them to the point that if they do actually write for me they're annonyed by me and write a bad letter but I need these LORs.  Isn't it Ironic that the professors who are so quick to give bad grades over late assignments can't do something they agreed to do in a timely fashion?

Up until now Cooley has just been this horrible place that I've read and heard about but it was kinda funny to actually see the Cooley guy the other day.  I walked around for well over an hour and didn't see anybody talking to him...it'd be easy to be a cooley rep.

I went to the forum and sat through the workshops they had.  I didn't learn anything ground breaking but I found the overall experience to be helpful.  I talked to many law schools, even ones that i had no intention of applying to, and picked up more stuff then I'll be able to read ... but its all good.  I stopped to talk to the Golden Gate Law people and one of the guys behind their table happened to be the dean of admissions for the school.  I tried to ask him about the optional essays, such as the diversity statement, and he acted like he had no idea what i was talking about, I then asked about the median gpa and lsat of the last incoming class and he quickly told me and then dusted me off.  You would've thought he was the dean of admissions to a top school the way he treated people.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / An interesting legal issue?
« on: November 07, 2005, 01:42:23 AM »
The other night I went to a bar with two of my female friends (I'm a guy) and as my two friends walked in I was stopped and charged five bucks. This is something that I'm sure many of you have experienced on more than one occasion ... not that big of a deal, really.  Anyways, as I was standing in this overcrowded bar drinking my 5 dollar bottle of bud I got to wondering if theres a legal issue here.  Its become routine to see flyers promoting clubs that say "girls in free guys 10$" or something to that effect and nobody really gives it a second thought. But how is this different than saying "Blacks 10$ and Whites in free" or "Asians free before 11 o'clock all others 10$ all night"?
