It sounds like you should take (at least) a year off and decide. Law school is a huge commitment (both time and money) and I wouldn't want to take it on without being sure. 2

I just recently visited Santa Clara...I had pretty much decided to go to USD and now I'm not sure anymore. I wasn't too big on San Jose...which was literally right down the street...but San Fransisco is so close and the Bay area in general was great.

My bachelors degree is in biology...you need to have a technical/science background in order to take the patent bar however, the patent bar is only required for patent prosecution. I went to the open house at SCU and went to the meeting on their high tech certificate program...the dean and a 1L and 3L were there to talk about the program and also answer questions. Not one of the three had a technical/science background. I'm sure they would be happy to answer questions about that for you...If you wanted to talk to that particular dean I don't remember her name, but I'm sure I could find it for you. Good luck with your decision. It also came down to Pepperdine, SCU, and USD for me. I finally eliminated Pepperdine due to it being way too conservative for me...but the campus is absolutely beautiful.

At the admitted students day at Santa Clara they said that the priority deadline for the FAFSA mostly applied to undergrads and law students usually get the whole amount ($18,500), assuming they qualify, as long as they fill it out by June.

During thier information session they said they give money to their top 20% (I think). I didn't get anything unfortunately. They said that it is easier to get money after the first year. Anyways...good luck
(I totally understand how confusing it all is...I can't decide either!)

Hello. I also have had pretty good experiences with both Santa Clara and USD. Santa Clara admitted me in December and have invited me to at least three information sessions/receptions so far. I finally went to one this last weekend so if you have any questions about it, or what they said, maybe I can help. USD has been very slow to respond to me about anything, but when I called them they were very helpful/nice. I was admitted there last month...the letter was dated the day of the "newly admitted students day" so I, unfortunately, missed that. I'm kind of torn between these two schools...I love both locations and while USD is ranked higher I want to pursue IP law (which is a strenth for SCU). Good luck with everything...I hope you hear (good news) very soon!

I would also have to say NYC. I've lived in the northeast, southeast,and in southern California, and the one that comes closest to what you have said that you want is New York City. Unfortunately, it's not exactly small!
Also...I wouldn't count out all of the southern states. North Carolina was wonderful...the people there were really great. I admit that I am white, but my friends are a variety of races and they never felt like they were being discriminated against. I will say that I was mainly in the cities and I don't know what it is like once you get out of the cities as far as that goes. 9

I applied for the fall semester but they accepted me for the spring instead (and waitlisted me for the fall). I probably won't be going there, though...I really want to start in the fall and I've gotten into other schools that I'm happy with.
